I recently shipped a pair of lamps and a pair of pearl earrings in the same box. I only charged the winner the price for shipping the lamps.
After a week or so I got an email from the buyer saying the earrings were not there. I asked her to look again as I remember putting the in the box. They were in a velvet box wrapped in tissue paper.
She wrote again and said she still could not find them.
I fear a charge back coming. Since I have proof of receipt (DC) does anyone know what paypal would do.
I don't want them giving her all her money back. They were insured but I don't think the post office would pay in this case.
I don't know if she tossed them in error or if she's lying. She has low FB.
Has anyone ever had this problem? Is there anyway to protect ourselves as sellers in this case?

If the total is over $200,you need signature confirmation to satisfy Paypal.
If she cant find her earrings, she will file complaint on just the earrings and you DC will cover your ass,if it is under 200 dollars.

I've had it happen in the past when people can't find something we know has been included in a larger box.

When we have occasion to do this again, we make sure we indicate where we're placing the item - maybe even taping it to one side of the box inside so that it can't be thrown out with the packing materials -- and mentioning it in a note that is very consipicuously placed where they have to see it -- again, possible attached in some way to the larger item - or inside it, if possible.

Not sure what PayPal will do. Fortunately, they didn't make multiple PayPal payments, because they can get you in trouble if you can't produce 2 separate shipping docs.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Good ideas Wayne.
I think I may even take a photo in the future.
I may offer to split the loss with her but I just can't decide. I know I shipped it so I may just wait and see what she does. It's only money after all??
