I have a buyer that wants shipping quoted to Canada. They want it by Christmas. It's a small box 6" x 6" and weight just under a pound. I can't remember which Global service you can ship using your own box etc. I don't want to quote until I'm sure but I don't want to drive post office before I quote either. Does anyone know for sure.

Global Priority is one option as well as Global Express.

You can go to: http://www.usps.com to check out the details and even the cost.

Anyone who ships more than 10 packages a week who hasn't invested $30-40 in an accurate shipping scale to help you "know" what your shipping options and prices of them -- well, you're spending more of your valuable life "wondering..."

Just a gift of experience and recommendation for anyone today...<smile>

I got an inexpensive scale 7 years ago--I think I got it on eBay--and it's still good as can be. The p.o. folks marvel at my accuracy. It's a "Pelouze."

Thanks but I'm not sure you understand my question.
I have a very good scale - the weight isn't the problem - it's knowing which method uses their box and which you can use your own box. This item won't fit into their boxes.
I guess that's a better to put it.

Air Letter Post. The cost is determined in 4 ounce increments. Example: 16 ounces is $3.95, 20 ounces is $4.65.

Then the answer to your question is:

The ONLY service that requires that you use the USPS-provided supplies is the "Flat Rate" either box or envelope.

I'm fairly certain that every other service can use your own supplies.

How's that?

Thanks Wayne - so I guess that makes your first reply correct.
It can also go Air Mail but I don't think they will want to chance that.

You can send Global priority in anything just fill in the right thing label for Global OR like I did once I put it into a Global priority tyvek sack. I think you can use the sack to wrap the box in by opening the side of it if the 6" box won't fit. Just make sure to leave Numbered label on side with shipping address that is on the sack..... I have done that a couple to times and my post office said that was ok as it is a weight sensative envelope anyway....

Try Global Express Mail (EMS) to Canada. A 1 lb. package will cost $17.15 and arrive in "3-5 days." Since this is the holiday season, shipment may take longer. The EMS service is not next day delivery.

Now, you should note that Canada Post has advised their customers that all packages shipped to the U.S. by Air Post, should be shipped by Dec. 9th.

Global Priority would cost $8.50 for a 1 lb. package, and arrive in "4-6 days."

Sooo, better plan on using Global Express, unless you want to chance a longer delivery..
