by something called a skin whereby a seller looses control of their auction by someone taking over control of their auction where the thief diverts the bids and all emails.

Have not heard of something called skin? I have heard where someone stole the id and changed the emails and took over someones account sold bogus goods to tried to but that is usually by phishing scams or someone finding out your password into Ebay.
************** Check it out

Yes skinning can happen. Hackers use it all the time. Usually when they skin they have bank information as well and are taking over not only your auctions but your profit as well. It is extremely hard to prove it too! The best defense I have found is when I am answering questions I answer straight from EBAY never my email accounts and if something seems strange I immediately notify either Ebay itself or find a very good IT guy to help out!! Skinning is horrible and I have known people it has happened to..it is very hard to recover from financially.

this auction happened to a person I know. this seller had an item that was steadily going up in value by bidding. All of a sudden, she lost control of it, contact Ebay live that stated that she answered an email not through the message system where this person hacked their info. What dirtbags!! Nothing is safe anymore!!!

One day,I left the house to go to the store,I must have been gone for more than one hour, when I returned I found someone has listed 15 items using my seller ID for singer sewing machines, laptop computers all starting at 7.95 for 3 days auction, using all kind of expensive features and ran up my ebay bill by a few hundred dollars.
Each auction has his email address and he urged the bidders to contact him !
I was tempted to bid on his laptop, where can you find laptop for 7.95??

That's the whole thing you can't find a laptop for 7.95...they typically do not exist. They just like to mess with people.

We had several lovely 4 wheelers listed on our ebay page for 24.99. Ebay was very quick though to take the charges off..it was just a headache.

Bad advice. This is the method the scammers are getting your information. Your best defense it to ALWAYS use your reply button in your e-mail. NEVER EVER USE THE YELLOW BUTTON OR RESPOND THROUGH EBAY. That's what the scammers want. If you do, they get your information out of ebay every time.
Remember, eBay is the most glitchy site out there and eBay is always making those so called improvements. Problem is, it also allows hackers into their system and they get your info via the ASQ system of eBay.
