I am leaving for Portugal on Friday with my sisters. I will not be back until Jan 7. I am concerned about my business. I MUST list this week. esp if there is a sale. I have come up with the following to paste into every auction... what do you think? Any suggestions are appriciated.

PLEASE NOTE: I WILL BE AWAY FROM DEC.29 THROUGH JAN 7. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND/OR SEND INVOICES AT THE CLOSE. I WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL END OF AUCTION BUSINESS + SHIPPING IMMEDIATLY UPON MY RETURN.

That's what I always do when I go on vacation. I have never had a complaint. I also try to avoid BINs for that period.

That sounds good. Do you still have a store? You can also set the store 'on vacation but open' message. If you have any automatic notices you could also restate your away/return dates in case someone missed when buying.

Have a great time in Portugal!

Aren't you the one who has the woman stalker? Something to do with sets of plates?

Do you really want to go away for 11 days and leave your business unattended?

Sure, you can put that message in your auction. But consider. Suddenly you have faith in the ability of bidders to 1) read, 2) comprehend, and 3) agree that your absence is A-OK?

Far better would be to run some BIN Immediate Payment Required auctions starting *right now* and ship the stuff before you leave. Keep those shipping records. Pick the most attractive items and offer them at irresistable prices. I did this very successfully right before we left on our 21-day vacation.

You can also schedule them to start while you are away, but end just before or after your return. But, make sure you are well rested, because you will have a lot of catching up to do.

Why not list for 10 days that way you will be back to answer questions before your auctions end?
