I would think that the USPS falls under other essential public business and will be open. I hope.

Federal Offices will be closed for President Ford's funeral. I believe that does mean the post office. Just wonderful. As if they aren't slow enough.

So I call both my satellite post office and the main branch. They don't know yet! So I guess we'll find out when they know ...

That would make for a 4 day holiday for non-essential Government offices. I doubt that many Government workers will spend the day observing the death of Ford. Probably cut down on some of the traffic returning from their three day out of town holiday however.

If I recall correctly, the Post Office was closed for Reagan's funeral as well.

YEP, it is true . The USPS will be closed Monday and Tuesday .

I just asked my mailman when he picked up here and he said that his office was not sure if they were included in the Tuesday closings when he left this morning. He did say that some thought they had been closed for Reagan's funeral so probably will be for Ford's.

I just returned from mine and they had a sign taped to the door: "Closed Tuesday for National Day of Mourning".
I'm sure the postal folks will sit at home and cry their eyes out over that one.

Our P.O. has a sign on the door saying it'll be closed Tuesday in Ford's memory.
