Does anyone have Paypal's phone number? My ATM ate my debit card (I left it in accidently) and I'm having trouble ordering a new one online. TIA

Pixia - It's been a few years since that happened to me, but I was able to get it back from the financial institution that owns the ATM. For me, it was the bank that it was sitting outside, but I would contact the ATM owner and providing you answer the right questions (provide ID, I'm assuming) - they'll give it back to you.
It probably happens more than you think it would and I'm sure they have a process to follow - which you would want to do. Having PayPal issue a new card would probably take a week or more and the numbers would be different so any recurring charge or anything you have set up to order easily (like postage) would all have to be corrected.
My recommendation, if appropriate, would be to get the original card back from the ATM owner. And, that could be as early as Monday/Tues.

I have to agree with Wayne. I left mine in the machine too. I called the bank and the teller at the window had it for me. Drove through and picked it up.

This is the second time it happened at the small branch bank I've had an account with for 20 years. The first time they returned it, no problem. I went back yesterday a half hour after it ate my card and the teller, her manager and the bank manager all refused to return it because it was from another banking institution. Thanks for the phone number!

Thats when I would have said I'd like to close my account with you...sheesh . After 20 years of loyalty you think they could work with you.

Sorry you're having trouble with your bank. In spite of a long relationship, they don't have a problem with inconveniencing you, do they?
In fact, they are in possession of something that doesn't belong to them, right? The owner (you) have asked for its return - right?
Sounds like a matter for the local law enforcement to handle... right? They're witholding something that they admit is not theirs. It's obviously yours -- YOUR NAME IS ON IT! -- Even the laziest of law enforcement could see that a dectective isn't needed -- so... let the branch manager know you're going to call the police and they'll have to deal with them.
I know you might not want to anger them, but my mentor through most of my formative years would ask -- "What do you have to lose? You obviously don't have a great relationship now or they would have given it back to you..."
So, call the cops and tell them someone (give them the branch manager's name but not his title) at (the address of the bank) is holding your debit card and the're refusing to give it back -- and you want to file a complaint...

fxk19, I tried the first phone number and it worked great. Thanks for your help! Edited to add, the banks have an agreement with other credit card/debit card companies in their ATM system not to return the other's cards to the consumer. My sister, a bank manager was very surprised when I got it back the first time. I think I got lucky the first time, got a teller who didn't know about the agreement but was experienced enough to not run to her manager on every little thing.

I do have one more number for Paypal, not sure where it came from or what it's for. 877-672-9725.

pixiamom,
There's a simple reason why most banks and financial institution don't automatically return a credit or debit card that an ATM has retained. The card may have been declined or flagged as "LOST" or "STOLEN". Of course most of the time it's simply that the ATM ate the card, but until someone checks the ATM's log they don't know. So basically they are holding your card until they can verify that it's your's and that the issuer says it's still valid. It's to protect the lawful owner of the card and prevent the bank from aiding a criminal (which opens a whole new can of liability issues).
