I have seen the dog on this card described as a Jack Russell terrier. Is that correct? I once gave one to a Jack Russell owner and she did not argue the ID. I do wonder if she was just being polite so would like some guidance before I list it and bring the wrath of the Jack Russell community down on me if I am wrong.
Have looked at a bunch of Jack Russell sites but there is so much variety in the way the dogs look that I am not sure.
Thanks for your help.

It looks like the "standard" for Jack Russell's is pretty broad! The ears on your dog look a little long and I think they are supposed to be more white (but who knows what is under the outfit!). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Russel_Terrier

The fur looks too smooth for a Jack Russell. Looks more like a beagle to me.

Your JRT owning friend was being polite. There are smooth coated Jacks, but the dog in your photo is more likely a beagle or some mixture thereof.

I will waffle on the breed of the dog. The breed of the camera, on the other hand, is not in doubt. A camera collector is the most likely target but I thought if I could identify the breed I might cross market. Not a rare card in any case so "Dog with Argus Camera" it will be.
Wonder if dressing and posing the dog like this would be considered "canine abuse" by a true dog lover.
Thanks for the input.

You could call it a "dressed dog"...I know there are collectors of "dressed cat" postcards not sure about dogs. I always found the 'dressed cat' postcards spooky though not as spooky as this postcard I listed last night:

Neglus, there is most definity a "dressed dog" genre. In fact there is one very famous contemporary photographer, William Wegman who dresses his Weimaraners. I actually find his later work creepy.
That cat card will give me nightmares!

Looks like a Foxhound to me. It could just be the camera angle, but it appears a little large to be a beagle.

Way too small to be a foxhound. It's a beagle.

Hmmmm, nose is too long, and ears too short for a beagle methinks ?
Here is our little girl, a JRT + Staffordshire cross.
