I nominate myself as STUPID PERSON OF THE YEAR. If you recall,I had my PayPal debit card eaten by my bank's ATM a few weeks ago- I had to wait for 10 days to get the new one and transfer funds from PayPal to my bank account to pay the bills. I topped myself this time - not only did I lose my PayPal card in the ATM today, but I discovered I must have lost my bank's credit/debit card in the ATM Friday. At least, I'll get that card back on Monday. U.S. Bank ATM's in this area require you to request card return - very clumsy. I only use this ATM for shipping (my post office franchise does not accept credit/debit cards) or deposits. I'll try to avoid it in the future.

Pixiamom,
If several different cards have been "eaten" by local ATMs then thee may be a problem with your cards or the ATMs. You might want to use your cards in a regular instore swipe card reader to make sure the cards are not demagnetized or the magnetic track is damaged or unreadable. That way you'll still have the card and payments can be manually processed.
However if your local ATMs have a history of "eating" cards - ask the ATM owner or local businesses if they have complaints from other customers. Older ATMs do have more problems so look for newer ones.

The only time I have had a card "eaten" by an ATM has been when I used the wrong PIN for the card I had put in the machine. Back in the day when we only had one credit card I did that the day before we left for a trip to England. Boy did that put a crimp in our trip!
I like the new ATMs at our bank where you insert the cards then remove them right away. -----o----o----o----o----o----o----o----o
