I just wanted to pass on what a PLEASANT experience I've had with freightquote.com recently. Bob has been one of the nicest people I've ever dealt with....I'd recommend him to anyone.

Is this for large items (I assume so) and can it be used from any location? Thanks for the post. We seems to only write about bad experiences - guess that's human nature

large items yes. and I would assume items on a pallet already.
when I emailed him initially he answered within a few minutes! and continued to be just as helpful throughout the whole transaction. even passed along a direct phone number for the company I was dealing with so that I could bypass the less than *helpful* customer service department.
I just googled freight companies and the city I live in and checked to make sure I had a local pick up place. They're probably in the phone book too.
Bob & the freightquote.com contact was given to me by the company I dealt with however.
I then inquired about the cost of shipping something 175 pounds with the approximate dimensions and he quoted me a price. He was very close to the final cost which went up by $20.00 but then we have no idea what the company did to prepare it for shipment. It could be completely crated by this time, rather than just on a pallet.
from their website:
"freightquote.com, the leading provider of online business-to-business freight and logistics services, announced today it has renewed and extended its agreement with eBay to market and provide freight services for its customers who need to move heavy items. Under the agreement, freightquote.com will feature online freight tools as a benefit to buyers and sellers using the eBay marketplace to auction or purchase goods over 150 pounds.
CEO of freightquote.com, Tim Barton explains, "freightquote.com customized its systems with eBay users in mind. Our tools allow eBay users to leverage the joint purchasing power of both freightquote and eBay to gain access to aggressive carrier pricing. The tools even allow eBay Power Sellers to integrate their own carrier-contract pricing into our online freight calculator." eBay users can set up freight shipments without leaving the eBay site and can allow their buyers to get a precise freight cost before bidding on items. "The tools help to demystify the shipping process which can be cumbersome and time-consuming," added Barton. "We have further simplified our freight tools by walking users through the freight process in bite-sized pieces.""
