Many sellers experienced extreme frustration this weekend while trying to list using the new SYI form.

Judging by the frantic messages this morning, most had the same problem I did: When attempting to add a picture to a listing, SYI would refuse to proceed, giving a "Please provide the correct information in the highlighted fields" error. The highlighted field states that Picture Show requires two or more pictures. You get this error even if you're not trying to use Picture Show.

Unfortunately eBay's the-blind-leading-the-blind system of board support has some people giving completely erroneous information about how to fix this, and may result in some folks damaging their computer's configuration by messing with things they don't fully understand, like reinstalling JavaScript.

If you are experiencing the Picture Services problem, your best bet at this juncture is to revert to the old SYI. That's what I'm doing. It works fine.

What are you going to do when eBay drops the former SYI?

One hopes eBay will have the problem resolved by then. I intend to complain about it daily until then.

If they go ahead and implement the new SYI in its current broken state, I'll stop listing and make another picket sign. Weather should be better then, and I can afford to spend a few days standing outside eBay HQ.

But it probably won't come to that.
