Hi everyone...It's Philipp Justus again, Senior VP for the auction business in North America. Auction-style listings make up the signature eBay buying experience. Whether you're the winning high bidder in the last few seconds of a listing, or the item you're selling reaches a record high bid amount that you never imagined possible, auction-style listings give you a thrill you can't get anywhere else.
With this in mind, I'm pleased to let you know that tomorrow, March 14, we'll be hosting another listing promotion. Our recent auction-style listing promotion on Valentine's Day was very successful, so we're doing it again - tomorrow, insertion fees for auction-style listings only will be just 20 cents. For full details, see our information page.

guess fixed-price sales (which our customers prefer) are a thing of the past, sigh. at least this "present" from mr. justus is a flat 20-cents, as opposed to the horrible sliding fee scale that accompanied his Valentine's Day "present."

Time for sellers to list the over priced stuff for a token 20 cents. Ebay picks up a gallery fee in the process which they would not otherwise get and it is the end of the fiscal quarter, is it not? Should boost listings if nothing else. Sorry but I am not too awfully impressed by their announcement. Guess the days of 10 cent promotions are long gone.

I sure hope that Vendio is working late tonight - they still don't have the system straightened out from the time change! Could be a bumpy ride tomorrow!

Too bad it doesn't have fixed price, I would have used that. I pretty much don't do auctions anymore, guess I am not part of the ebay core club.

NEGLUS - what's the problem with Vendio? Do auction launch early or late? Do you know if Sale Manager Pro is having the same problem?
I don't mind launching early on some items but not on everything.

Vendio seems to be working AOK today so far. I had severe problems last night but maybe they were working on the system in preparation for today (let's hope so)!
Postcards: I am adding a Buy-It-Now (for 5 cents) to some of my listings so folks can have a FP if they want it. I have been doing those listings through ebay just to make certain that I still get the listing sale.

No BIN not on sale - it's 5 cents for items under 9.99 (most of my postcards). I am removing gallery at the same time as I add a BIN so still saving $

I congratulate this group on being remarkably calm with Vendio listing tools. I can't get into the control panel at all - very glad I use eBay for my relists.

neglus,
the nickel "buy it now" is a good idea. might try that with some revisions. mainly want to get everything up first, as eBay slows down so much later in the day on sale days. this is an experiment on my part, to see if auctions are still as awful for me as they usually are

PATIENT is not the word I would choose! I gave up on Vendio and have been plugging my way through relisting on ebay. VERY laborious and I can't schedule without coughing up a dime.
After a good start, Vendio became completely useless. Delays, blank pages, problems with scheduling and double lists...and the BIG surge from the sale listing day hasn't even begun yet!

Here I was going to up and quit and got sucked back in with this promotion, I do need to get rid of a few things before I give up on ebay so I listed a few relist they zipped right in then about 5 this evening some list didn't launch until 1hour 30 minutes later. Now some more I have launched have taken over 2 hours to launch and I hope my last batch will launch before midnight or I am going to be miffed. OH well so much for quiting ebay. LOL
It is just a shame they don't give us more promotions say once a week. --yeah right. I am sure with the overload of listings our sells will keep being a disappointment.

I wrote up a few auctions yesterday afternoon & scheduled them to launch at 9 p.m. EST. 3 out of 4 did not go through. Vendio said they were processing at 9 p.m.
So much for this great deal. Never again here either.

I tried early yesterday .... just got aggravated . I listed Xactly nothing yesterday!Did do 4 or 5 relist through Vendio ... no new listings.
Auctiva did pretty good from all reports , and it is free.
I love Vendio, but ya must have a backup on the side.

Listed 75 items for launch at 9 PM eastern. By 12:30 AM only 7 had launched. Most came back as "error". Many high ticket items I would not normally sell on ebay. And Vendio says, we're sorry? Yes they are. Tres mal.

so...why is it that you use VD to launch auctions, anyway, with these kind of results? you're paying for service not received...

I have 2 ID and did them both differently for this promotion. One I used SMPro and all new listing - all launch without a problem. On my other ID I tried to relist a few and none launched. Luckily I didn't lose much in fees due to the launch error.
I would be very upset if it had been the reverse on my listings? Sorry this happen to so many of you guys!!!

I see a lot of you got your notice late about the promotion, for some reason I got my notice the day before the promotion so it gave me some advance on getting my stuff ready to list. It was a first for me as I usually get the notice late in the day of the promotion which leaves me no time for new items. That is a real PITA. I wish Ebay would give more advance notice than even the day before so we could prepare a little better.
My auction did get listed before the cut off and no errors but I only did 17 with 3 relists. It did take about 2 hours to launch and was sweating the last 5 I did was uploaded at 9:30 pm but they went on pretty quick by 2 hours at least. The ones I uploaded early afternoon went in fast though so they are right about launching early.

Vendio NORMALLY does these listing specials without problems (though there are processing delays at the prime listing times caused by latency of ebay API) . The problems on Wednesday were unprecedented - the site didn't work right all day. Actually, I have had problems since Sunday and think that they didn't get the time change quite right.
I still feel I get my $ worth of services with Vendio. I figured out that there would be problems on Weds early in the day, so I figured a work-around. I think it was irresponsible of Vendio not to post a warning to users that site issues could prevent them from launching listings during the ebay sale period. Because we are used to processing delays during listing sale dates , many users assumed that once the latency resolved (usually by 10 pm Central time) their auctions would be launched. Not so - at least in time to benefit from the listing sale.

I uploaded batches (360) listings stored in SMP before 9AM EDT and all were confirmed in my-eBay within about 15 minutes. There was no latency; but it was early. I guess it depends on individual circumstances.

Our recent auction-style listing promotion on Valentine's Day was very successful, so we're doing it again - tomorrow
Translation: Our listing counts have dropped so low that we had to do something to sucker more people into listing more items.

I was wondering how everyone fared on this latest "reduced" day?
I did not list because I did not do so great last year at this time and that was a 10 cent day then (good ole days).

Well my listings sold and I was glad to see they did but they were unusual things I think, old patterns uncut did well on them for what they were and what I paid for them.
Would be nice if they just reduced the listing price to a reasonable price, it is not like ebay is not making money with the fees anyway. Oh well.
