Just back from my shipper (actually a drop off for UPS, FedEx and DHL as well as a satellite post office) who confirmed that all the major carriers have changed their dimensional weight charts and charges. Which explains why a chandelier was quoted as $54 with Fed Ex and $36 with DHL. If you ship bulky items, you may want to shop around.

The Post Office is supposed to change to that on May 1st I think. It will be interesting to see if the calculators in our auctions work when that happens. I know they will catch up but we might 'eat' some postage for a few days.

This an interesting topic as I have a bulky but light object that I will eventually need to ship if sold. I called UPS and they quoted me 44 dollars to ship from California to New York. It is big but weights less than 8 lbs. I guess I will have to shop around too. UGH! I hate this. I won't liste it until I know how and where I can ship this darn thing. Maybe I'll just forget it and try craigslist

From what I could understand from UPS, if a box is larger than 3 cubic feet, you had better include the dimensions in any shipping calculator you're using.
