SORRY for the long delayed UPDATE -- I've been both DEPRESSEDandLAZY...
Anyhoo...
LAST FRIDAY, I went back to the MF SURGEON for the MRI results, which were totally 100% NORMAL and NO surgical intervention is indicated.
According to him, it would have been very surprising to him if the MRI had shown anything that required surgery, as he says surgery for TMJ pain syndrome is RARE (only 2%)...
He referred me to a DENTIST that specializes in TMJ & FACIAL PAIN here:
...BUT, of course, I can't go THERE, as my HMO insurance won't cover ANYTHING which is dental-related, and my CHEAPO-WORTHLESS individual dental policy is...worthless!
So... I really don't know WHAT to do...
The reason I did things BACKWARDS with the TMJ was because of my insurance. My HMO will pay ONLY if I go for MEDICAL/SURGICAL treatment at UF/SHANDS -- it pays NOTHING for "dental" treatment of ANYTHING...
Just to make my life more interesting than it already was...
FRIDAY was my regular MONTHLY appointment at my PAIN CLINIC...
I arrive and immediately, I'm informed that my DR SOLD the practice!
They had a "rent-a-doc" there handing out RX'S of 30 pills (that's right: 30 pills, NOT 30 day supply) to all the CHRONIC PAIN patients who had to sign a form acknowledging TREATMENT TERMINATION before the script would be handed over...
So, I have approximately 4 BUSINESS days to find a NEW pain doctor...THANKS loads!
It usually takes AT LEAST 3 WEEKS to transfer to a new doctor for CHRONIC PAIN MANAGEMENT, so this is a MEDICAL DISASTER for me...
I'm 58...I have HBP...I've been on pain meds for six years...and these clowns are shoving me into withdrawal sometime around WED or THURS...

Aw gee, Tom. I'm so sorry to hear about all this mess. My cousins in Canada would NOT BELIEVE your story, since their system wouldn't do that to them.

Oh Tom - I'm so sorry to hear of your continued pain - Email me and I'll give you my phone number if you want to talk - it won't help your pain but maybe your depression. I wish I could get my husband to talk to you - he is in pain 24/7 with PN. But he's not a talker if you know what I mean.

Tom, am very concerned about you. If the pain gets too bad, find a safe place for Ralphie and get admitted to a hospital. It may be the best bet of getting the drugs you need in the interim before you can find an obliging doc.
