Auction counts are at a low for the year. I'd guess there will be a 20-cent listing day soon. Will there be more bidders during Easter and spring break?

Auction counts is low because there are few bids.
What good does 20 cents listing do??Increase supply without increasing demand!
The problem is with demand ,not supply!
In fact it will make the problem worse, more supply!

From a postcard bottom-feeder POV - it is a good time to buy...

Auction counts may be low as we try to figure out the new postage. I know I am only listing things that weigh 1 pound or under until I see how the calculators work after the 14th. Anyone else doing the same? The postage cost jumps are horrid and will hurt all online business. The new DIM will slap a 20 pound shipping cost on pretty quickly. I am going through my inventory of boxes and getting rid of the oversized ones unless I have something right now that I know is worth the extra shipping cost. I know I would not want to pay between 12.00 to 35.00 to receive a large, although light, package!

We have had the dimensions in Canada for a couple of years now. It makes you find boxes that you can squeeze things into to save on the postage cost. I no longer even buy bulky items to sell, it costs far too much to ship, and people don't want to pay it. Also, for that reason, I can't put shipping costs in my listings because until I know how big a box I will need after wrapping in bubble wrap etc, I have no idea what size the box will be, especially in combined auctions.

Auction counts dipped about this low this time last year (took a peak at the annual medved chart).

And, Ebay didn't offer a listing special until May.

Maybe it's a tax time thing?

That could be it, I just got done writing a check to the IRS, ouch! Oh well, I guess if you make money Uncle Sam has to have his, I would be complaining if I did not make money, LOL.

I didn't get to list much this week as my telephone and DSL have been out due to bad storms. But I had a very good week sales wise on my auctions. I also bought several items at great prices. I would say things will pick up after the 15th.

Sales on my 2nd ID are great but I've got some really nice items offered.
I think tax times does have something to do with slow sales but it also depends on what you have listed.

My sales have been good.

I was just referring to the low listing count being due to taxes. People working on taxes instead of listing items.

Last year, the special listing day was May 9th and the year before it was May 12th.

Not sure if it is going to matter this year though.

I'd like to see a listing sale about now. Sure you sell less, but the cost is less, too. A win-win situation.

I'd like to see ebay lower the listing fees and raise the ending fees. A 10 or 20 cent listing fee with 15-20% ending fee would be fine with me.

Ebay wants items which get bids, high bids, good bids, out of the world bids!!

And yet with all of their so-called improvements, we all get less and less bids.

And someone mentioned postage rates increasing. Here's a good one: Amazon will not be increasing the postage cost they charge buyers, therefore sellers won't get any more $$ for postage than we're getting now. That means lower net profits on shipping books. Bummer.

Then Amazon will see a great drop in sales and therefore profit. I am sorry for book sellers because they don't allow enough money for shipping now.

Right, Pat. Either Amazon will have to increase what they pay us sellers and take a bit of a hit on their profits, or what you predict will really happen. I think as sellers become aware of this, they're going to make waves.

My Post Office lady says she doesn't see where they can charge the 20 pound rate for oversize packages. She says it just isn't right, and they don't have any paperwork on the increase yet and it is Saturday! She says she could print it out at home from the web but it is ridiculous that nothing in print is available from the Post Office itself!

Unless I'm mistaken, the increase is May 14.

Thanks hwahwa - like I'm going to knock myself out for this one! Great for those who normally use gallery AND subtitle but it can cost up to 6 cents in lost fees to take it out of my store and it kills me when I accidently relist with gallery and subtitle still attached.

As usual, they throw us some crumbs and see if we respond. No Thanks, I don't use those features anyway
