I'm beginning to wonder if I should use the Best Offer option for some of the items I list. Just bought a rare book from a seller who uses Best Offer on some of his listings. Anyone here use it? Does it cost extra? Is it just available with Stores?

Roadie, Best Offer is free and can be used on any Fixed Price listing.
Just make sure you are ready to be insulted. There are some people out there who will offer you .99 for your $1000 book.

Avoid insults ... you can set it to automatically reject offers under a certain amount.

Still a bit confused, but thanks! When I go to my account in Vendio and see the Best Offer section,
* Will all my listings automatically include that, even if I don't want it? Or can I opt on the Vendio listing page for fixed price only when I want it?
* Confused about "fixed price" listings. Are these only with eBay Stores? I've used BIN and reserve prices, but have never gone further than that.
I really just want to try the Best Offer once or twice to see how it will work for me with some of the sets of old books I have.

In Vendio you have three listing type options at the top of the form: : auction, fixed price and store. Click on the fixed price option and then only put a price in the "Buy-it-now" field (leave the auction field blank). You can just use "BO" when you want - don't have to have it on all your listings. I don't know why the form says " Enable Best Offers when possible in this listing's category" - I just check the box when I want to use it and leave it blank otherwise.

Best Offer is only available for Store items. We use it all the time - and have it set to automatically decline offers that are not at least 70% of the listed price.
In Blackthorne Pro, you can set either a fixed amount or a percentage of the offer.
I'm fairly certain that you can't enable Best Offer on Fixed Price listings.

Not true.

Fixed price, be it store, or a listing, enables the best offer option. Switch to auction format with Buy It Now and the option disappears.

Sorry, Wayne.
Best Offer on Fixed Price listings
I didn't use Fixed Price much until Best Offer came along. Now I'd rather not do without it.

I stand corrected. Sorry, haven't used it that way in the past and now I might have to consider it.
I do know we've used it successfully in the store format - and now thinking about it, it would be logical that you it would be available. It could be that I erred because I've discontinued using a logic filter when considering eBay.

Thanks much, everyone. I think I'll give it a shot. Appreciate your helping me on a holiday. I always imagine everyone else is out barbecuing or at a party. We don't make much of this holiday, ourselves.

Now that makes sense. No need to filter out the logic when eBay doesn't have any.
