First charge back in seven years so I'm looking for any advice.
Customer made four purchases on 3/1 / 07 total $350
I shipped usps signature delivery
Never heard back from them till today.
A charge back shows up in my paypal account with note of unauthorized credit card
I check usps signature delivery and they do not have it as it is to old, nearly three months ago
any suggestions ?

Did you ship to a confirmed address?
Do you still have the postal receipt and/or the signature confirmation receipt?

I shipped to a confirmed address with signutre delivery required and used paypal click and ship.
I have the delivery number along with the signature delivery number but the usps web site no longer has the delivery and signature info stored as it has been three months

Contact buyer and request explanation. If they cite fraudulent usage of their credit card then ask them to make a Police report and you'll follow through on your end with a Mail Fraud report to the USPS Postal Inspectors in Chicago. Ask for their full cooperation with law enforcement. (If the buyer is a scammer their reponse will usually "flush them out".)

go to your town's main Post office, they should have an office that might be able to handle this problem. If you have your documentation, I would sure as hell fight it.

It's very good that you shipped to a confirmed address.
I don't use click and ship. What kind of records do they keep? Can you produce any evidence of the purchase of the signature confirmation? If so, I would print it and fax it to PayPal asap.
I know many sellers would advocate staying far away from the creep who is trying to steal from you and working only through PayPal. They may be right but when some creep tried to steal from me this way I did contact him and I explained that I knew he was trying to steal and I told him exactly what would happen if he did not withdraw the false claim. It worked for me.
I also filed a complaint with eBay for using a fraudulent form of payment. It was too late to file a UID but I would have if I could have.

This is from PayPal:
"What information can a seller provide to increase the chances of winning a chargeback dispute?
The following types of information can increase the chances of a chargeback dispute being ruled in favor of the seller:
* Proof of delivery, such as online tracking numbers.
* Copies of the original item description or auction description, including any photos.
* Proof that the buyer was already refunded.
* Proof that the buyer was provided with a replacement product.
* Correspondence with the buyer or feedback from the buyer.
* Any agreements signed or accepted by the buyer at time of purchase.
* Any return policy that was communicated to the buyer."
Print out what you have from PayPal click and ship and fax it in. Their fax number is (402) 537-5755. Be sure to reference your case number on your fax. If you have any emails from the buyer that acknowledge arrival, print them out with headers and fax them too. Did he leave positive feedback? You could probably add that to the fax.
I had copies of emails where my thief claimed that he had no control over the chargeback, that it was all the fault of the "a##*%$es" at PP. I included those in my fax. I'm sure the folks at PayPal LOVE being called a##*%$es" by scammers.

You might want to include a little note and explain this to them. It could help. But even if you do nothing else, definitely fax the proof of click and ship postage. They don't take email attachments so you have to fax.

'Unauthorised credit card'
what does it mean?
Does it mean your bidder is saying it is his card but he did not authorise the purchase?
Does it mean he is using other people 's credit card and now the true owner has filed a chargeback?
Sometimes a person does not recognise the outfit on his credit card statement and files a chargeback,a phone call would help to jolt his memory.
If USPS does not keep signature confirmation on file after 3 months,it makes me wonder how long does it keep EMS tracking number?as disputes on overseas cc transaction can take up to a year??
