***Coming Soon: 1¢ Listing Week Sale***
From Bill Cobb
Dear eBay Member,
I'd like to announce a special one-week 1¢ Listing Week Sale, Insertion fees for auction-style and Fixed Price format listings on eBay, eBay Motors (for non-vehicles listings). All other fees will be at the standard rates. You can get all the details about the promotion on eBay.
eBay's success is based on the success of our buyers and sellers. We understand this, and we're working hard to put those words into action more than ever before. I know a one-week sale is a small gesture, but I hope it helps.
Regards,
Bill

I think it is obvious that the best ebay will do for sellers is a 20-cent listing day, once a month.

But Ebay is being "generous" and advertising a 10 cent charge for gallery pic for tomorrow June 6

I imagine Ebay's revenues from gallery listings are quite high and they are reticent to give them up. If they truly want to enhance end-user experience and increase sell-through rates, they would make gallery free. Who knows? Maybe the increased FVFees would more than compensate for the lost gallery revenue.

I agree Pixia. With sell-through rates worse than ever before, I might be enticed to list fixed price more often if gallery were once again free.
As it is, I'm not listing as much. That means ebay is not getting the listing fees or final fees from me. Makes you wonder how much that .35 is really costing them in FVF? I'm sure someone has run the probability numbers.

I agree Pixi and Lt. Gallery fees are a rip off!! You pay 20 cents to list a lower priced auction and 35 cents for the gallery. If the item is not unusual, I do not put a gallery on it. I also think BIN should be free, that is a no brainer. They get their FVF faster, etc. Ebay needs to be more seller friendly.

Have never understood why Ebay charges for BIN since the item sells faster and does not take up listing space unless they think that the FVF might have been greater had the auction been allowed to run it's course.
When they raised the gallery fee they gave the excuse that they hoped it would cut down on useage which overloaded the system. However the useage has increased and they seem to have no problems.
In all I fail to see the logic of many of their decisions.

In some categories, you have no choice but to use gallery pic, there are just too much listed and bidders dont want to bother with clicking on your item to see the pic.
see the pic first and then decide if they want to look further.

Ebay's declared reason for all of the seemingly irrational decisions this past year has been to bring back the "excitement" of the auction format. "Fixed price" doesn't figure into this equation.
Perhaps the real reason is they make more money in listing fees and add-ons when sell through rates are low than they do in FVF's. That would explain why they are making it impossible to find anything on ebay but easy to follow paid links to find things elsewhere.
