Anyone recognize the mark on this vase? It looks like "Mexico" and then some other marks. It was collected by the late mother of a friend of mine and does show some wear. Think it's "eBay-worthy" or more appropriately put in a garage sale? Thanks for any info.

It's a water jug. I don't know about the mark but these jugs are relatively common and are still being made though yours is older than many I have seen. They are sold with a matching cup that sits upside down on top, acting as both a stopper and a cup for drinking.

That being said, it's still a nice looking piece of pottery. They're pretty heavy though and that may preclude shipping it very far under the new rates. I would probably garage sale it for that reason.

I should have said carafe instead of jug.

I'm not sure where they are made but I saw them all over the markets in Jalisco so it's possible that they are made in Tlaquepaque or Tonala.

I dod not think that this one is ebayable because they are all too common. They go begging at La area swap meets and no shipping charge is involved. And Yes they are from Mexico. And yes there originally was a little cup that sat on top.

It's called an olla, pronounced "Oy-yah". Not worth the shipping cost.

Thanks, all, for input...appreciate it! Guess the ol water carafe (minus cup) goes into the next eBay clearance garage sale...
