I'd start with Google. And then perhaps some of the search sites -- the phone/business/etc. directories (AltaVista and others).

Try http://www.zabasearch.com. This site has helped me tremendously in searching for people and it is free and way better than Google.
Mama

Now try it.

Hwahwa, type in www.zabasearch.com and you will get it. The URL is set for "www.vendio.com/mesg/www.zabasearch.com"

I happen to be researching the descendant of an artist and put in his name (which is not very usual) and got an alert that there were too many to list. I doubt that.

Neil, I have never paid to use it and it has always been very helpful in locating friends and other individuals. If you want more than the addresses of a person then yes, you have to pay. But I have only been interested in addresses and if they have a phone number that is a bonus. I just used it to locate one of my high school friends and her family. I have never had the need to do a more thorough back ground check on anyone yet.

There are a few public information search engines.

I find veromi.net to be the better of the bunch, for the free info that is available.
