Ebay is inserting an "+" between two search words and can't find listings. I type in vagabond vegas - it returns no results for vagabond+vegas. I have to delete the + before it returns the two matching listings. I was excited that I'm listing a rather unique batch of cards - few of them were found on eBay. More likely they are on eBay, I just can't find them.

There's a thread about this on the search board. Jeff King from ebay wants examples so REPORT THEM please~ they can't fix what they can't replicate!

http://forums.ebay.com/db1/thread.jspa?threadID=2000388427&start=0

Do screen shots (CTRL-PRNT SCRN - paste in IRFAN, resize and upload to Vendio. Paste in your ebay post: <img src="paste your imagelocation here.jpg"> ) - let them see the way the URL changes as well as the results.

I did a search for a pattern of syracuse china. With the plus sign, none came up. When I took away the plus sigh, there were none listed, but there were eight in stores. The stores didn't come up the first time.

Also, the Stores Search option check box that was briefly on the left navigation bar is MIA. "They can't fix what they can't replicate..." Oh, come ON! This has been reported ad nauseum for over two weeks. Posters on the Search board complain that eBay doesn't even acknowledge receipt of their detailed reports.

Is this an insurmountable problem for the rocket scientists assigned to eBay search or is it a deliberate ploy to increase core listings sell-through rate - which is closely watched by analysts? Wish I knew, if it is the latter, heaven help us -- eBay returns NOTHING if search is not found in core.

Those search results are most likely the reason for the announced store tab.

Thanks pixiamom, don't know how I missed this thread. I was going crazy not being able to search and find my own listings. I saw the +s, but did not think that would eliminate every listing unless the words were in that order. When I manually eliminated the +s my listings appeared. What is the purpose of this?? This is not a Goggle search of the entire internet when +s and -s help eliminate crap. This is Ebay where people know keywords. Why are there always new "improvements" to worry about??!!

I hope this isn't the way they plan on showing the famous "Store Tab". It is still there if you know how to get it: on left navigation, click on "Customize" in tiny print at the bottom, select "more buying options" and move it over to the right side, save and then remember to check the box. UGH Like buyers are going to be able to figure it out? I think you have to set it up every time you open a new browser too.

Hmmm. I'm not getting it today. Mozilla here, neither search box returns plus sign. But saved search does do the plus sign with no results, not stores, nothing. And there is no way to replace the saved search with one that does not contain the plus either.

Boo!

PS: Just noticed that if I am on the Home Page, it WILL return the plus sign. If I am at the opening page of discussion groups, for example, it gives me the plus sign. If I am elsewhere, on any listing, inside a discussion group, or on My eBay page, it does not. So something to do with portals?

I know that buyers are having the Search problem because I have an ad for sale that ALWAYS sells. Vernor's Ginger ale.

I emailed my number one buyer and he said he could not find it. I asked about the plus signs and he has them in his search.

This is great, just great.

Beth: I just did a search for your ginger ale, and found 8 from your store (unless I didn't count right).

Messed up is right!

Beth,

I just searched for Vernor's Ginger Ale and search returned 8 items and yours not included.
I then searched Vernors ( without the apostrophe) and yours came up.

I still get 8, using the apostophe. And 8 not using, ie. Vernors Ginger Ale.

Yep, counted again. 8 both using the ', and 8 without the' in your store using search.

This is SO frustrating!

I forgot to say that when I searched without the ' there were 11 compared to 8 with the '

No wonder the buyers are disappearing!

Looks like Store Tab is coming and maybe a bit more (but don't hold your breath - Stores team is big on gadgets):
http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200707091657262.html

Funny, the URL has the word "Core" in it and not "store"....perhaps it's a wolf in sheep's clothing??

I just searched for Vernor's Ginger ale using the "Playground." The item did not appear because it is not a core item.

That most likely is the reason for the stores tab.

Well, I have two Vernors (Vernor's) ads in core. The ones in the store are the ones my collectors already have.

It looks like title revisions are in my future. A while back I noticed that you had to put both versions of Vernors in the title for it to come up. Then you didn't have to.

Now it looks like search is going to be pretty specific. More keywords!

I found one of your core Vernor's ads by using "vernor's ginger ale" but I had to use title and description to get it and then sort in advertising to make it faster.

Since most buyers search by title only these days, and you don't have Vernor's ginger ale in your title on either one, not surprising they don't come up.

Beth - I found your items BOTH ways. Your core items don't have "Ginger Ale" in the title so didn't come up when I searched under the whole phrase but did when just using the word "vernors" and "vernor's"
