...delights?

Now that ole chunky-butt's bloody nose has abated (geez! I was a basket case hysterical old woman for a few days there), we have to get down to WORK and try digging ourselves out...With his excess inventory of HERBAL VIAGRA and SWEDISH "EXERCISE" PUMPS, we desperately need new venues for sales, as we be both "personae non grata" on feeBay for the forseeable future...

Have signed up and are listing on AMAZON, since their PRO MERCHANT program seems to be a good deal: $20/month for first 2 months, and then $40/month...not bad.

Only problem is that most of my items are not presently on AMAZON, so I have to create a new catalog page before I can list -- pretty tedious...

YAHOO SMALL BUSINESS:

Anybody here have any experience with it? It looks really good, although it seems expensive...
BUT it is ON SALE right now, so we may go ahead:

VENDIO STORE:

We had one for TWO FULL YEARS & never had even ONE sale out of it

Is it any better now? Worth our time & moola?

THANKS to all opinions...

Glad Ralphie is better!! I have a friend who sells on Amazon but I have never tried it, it sounds cheaper. The Yahoo small business does look good. Good luck with whatever you decide on. You have great products, just need to get the eyeballs to sell them.
Update on the shingles, 4 weeks into it now, I have the distinction of being one of those unlucky people who have the pain continuing on. Doc wants me to try Gabapentin, generic for Neurontin, I'm just waiting for the call to go get it. I do pretty well during the day but just can't get more than 2-4 hours of sleep. Do you have any experience with that med?

Interesting, all she mentioned was it might make me sleepy! I haven't picked it up yet as they have not called me to say it has been called into the drugstore. I imagine the product insert will tell me all the side effects and I will proceed with caution. All I want to do is SLEEP!!! I don't react well to sleeping pills (have trouble waking up and getting coherent) but maybe they would be better and a good stiff drink is always good.

Sorry for a brief hijack of Tomwiii' thread. Pemlcher, did you ask your doctor about Lyrica? It really worked for me.

Tomwiii, hope you as well as Ralphie are feeling better. Sorry but I don't have any off eBay advice for non-antiques.

She did not seem too interested in prescribing that, but if the neurotin doesn't work I will press her harder.

Are all yer boo-boos 100% dry? If YES, did ya ask yer Dr about the LIDODERM PATCH?

http://www.lidoderm.com/

One of my surgeries was a repair of a torn biceps tendon. I used the l-patch over that post-op (a few months after surgery), and it gave amazing relief...Had to quit as me insurance would no longer cough up da moola for it & I couldn't afford it, but perchance you have better RX insurance???

How is post-herpetic neuralgia treated?

Because the virus is no longer present after the blisters dry up, the antiviral drugs used to treat shingles are not useful in patients with PHN.

There is no cure for PHN. Rather, treatment focuses on relieving pain. The most commonly prescribed medications are strong pain relievers containing opioids, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, and a newly approved topical lidocaine patch. Most PHN patients have meaningful pain relief from one or a combination of these drugs.

It is important to realize that every PHN patient responds differently to these different drugs. It is also very important that medications taken by mouth (antidepressants, anticonvulsants, and opioids) be started in small dosages. Every week or so, the dose is slowly increased until the patient begins to feel pain relief or complains of a side effect.

Topical lidocaine patch
The only drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration for PHN pain is the topical lidocaine patch (Lidoderm). The patch, which is applied directly on the painful skin, contains a 5% solution of lidocaine, a medication that doctors and dentists have used for years to relieve pain.

The lidocaine in the patch functions as an analgesic, reducing the pain of PHN without numbing the skin. In addition, the patch acts as a barrier against pain triggers such as clothing.

Lidocaine does not enter the bloodstream in any significant amounts. Thus, an advantage of the topical lidocaine patch is that it does not cause any serious side effects. Other advantages of the lidocaine patch include no interactions with any another medication and once-a-day application.

Antidepressants
The only type of antidepressants shown conclusively to help some people with PHN pain are the tricyclic antidepressants, which include amitryptiline, nortriptyline, and doxepin (there are others as well). These drugs are believed to reduce pain by affecting certain neurotransmitters, which are substances produced in the body that carry signals between nerve cells and other cells.

When used for pain relief in PHN, tricyclic antidepressants are prescribed in smaller doses than needed to ease depression. Other antidepressants, such as fluoxetine, sertraline, and paroxetine, are not usually used to treat PHN.

Anticonvulsants
Although these drugs were originally designed to prevent seizures in patients with epilepsy, they can be effective pain relievers for nerve-related pain conditions such as PHN. The anticonvulsant gabapentin, frequently used for PHN, has minimal side effects and no interactions with other drugs. The only problem with gabapentin is that some patients may need fairly large doses before they begin to experience pain relief.

Opioids
Recently, scientific studies have shown that pain drugs such as morphine, methadone, and oxycodone can relieve PHN pain with little risk of serious side effects or addiction.

Capsaicin Cream
Some people with PHN use capsaicin cream, which is sold without a prescription as a pain reliever for arthritis. However, most authorities do not believe capsaicin is a good treatment for PHN. The cream is rubbed into the sore skin 3 to 6 times a day. Made from the seeds of hot peppers, capsaicin cream can often worsen PHN pain by causing a burning sensation and skin irritation.

TENS
In desperation, some patients have turned in the past to a procedure called transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). Electrodes from a small machine that can be worn on the body are attached to the painful area. When turned on, the machine sends small electrical impulses to the electrodes, which in turn send the impulses to nerves in the skin. The patient decides when the pain is so bad that the machine should be turned on.

Wow Tom, you have all the info. I find it interesting that the gabapentin is an anticonvulsant. I will call Doc back and ask for the lidocaine (although the nurse said that it would not help at all, what does she know anyway, I bet she never had it). Thanks, Pat

I have been listing on Blujay.com no sales yet but maybe in the fall. You might try an E-Crater store. I haven't had the time to get that one going good as me and the hubby work 6 days a week. I don't have much luck on Amazon except when I sell games, they do well. If you can buy the original Nintendo games for a little of nothing, which I did. Some are collectable and bring good money. Playstation games you have to buy for very little, but they sell fast. I also go to the Book sales at the Library as I am A Friends of the Library Member, and I buy a ton of audio books, videos and hardbacks as well as paperbacks. I put that on Amazon, but sell most of it on E-Bay. Made great moola off the videos.

Tom: Why don't you SELL the eBay business (photos, dropship sources, text, etc., everything but the userid, which you can't sell) to someone who isn't banned from eBay?

That way you get some quick cash and you can pursue other sales avenues.

Well, we be hoping to dig our way back to Tara -- afterall, tomorrow is another day...

As Ralphie DuBois drawls: "Daddy & I won't always have to depend on the kindness of strangers..."

Although Ralphie does have a real nose for a bargain, there's a limit to how much storage space we can devote to his inventory of factory fresh blank BETA videotapes; and his 10,000 8-track copies of "101 Accordians Play The Captain & Teneille's Greatest Hit" or, for that matter, thousands of Pet Rocks that lost their adoption papers; not to mention the 7000 cases of Fen-Fen; or the 3000 doggy sock-puppets; or the cases and cases of "The Wit & Wisdom of Dubya" matchbook covers -- Oi! The list goes on and on...

Tom - For now, park your stuff at eCrater. It's 100% free and very easy to set up. Your items also get submitted to the search engines. That way, at least you aren't idle.

Cheryl:

THANKS for the suggestion -- I couldn't for the life of me remember that name: eCrater

The problem for chunky-butt and me is that we need to SELL SELL SELL, almost as well as we did on feeBay, or we may as well just give up & start interior-decorating discarded refridgerator cartons; not to mention, test driving the newest models of shopping carts in the Publix parking lot...

I've heard (and read) that paying your back ebay fees and then begging for early reinstatement does sometimes work. I know it's rude to suggest that you beg for a living but you do have a second mouth to feed and I know I would beg to keep my critters in kibble.

Whatever you decide, I wish you luck.

From what I've read on various boards, Amazon sounds like THE place to be. People report that they have strong sales and none of the kind of grief ebay buyers (not all - but some) like to dish out. Folks also report that they realize much higher prices at Amazon (aka "the River" too as ebay tends to attract the bottom feeders. The folks with the $ go to the A where they know they won't get a hassle and will receive what they ordered.

If you are the only one selling your stuff on Amazon, then you REALLY should do well because you will "own" the results page. (I really haven't spent time on Amazon so this is all from my reading the discussion from a couple of groups of some of the largest sellers on eBay).

Glad to see you are feeling well enough to post and sorry to hear about ebay shutting you down.
