This footed vase (is that really what it is?) belongs to a friend of mine who was told by an antique dealer it was "valuable". I've looked through several books but can't find this pattern or who made it. Can anyone help? It's kind of "squatty". It's 6 inches tall and has a diameter of almost 4 inches. It's on a foot. The pattern is small rosettes enclosed in a banded diamond. The band around the top is small round thumbprints. Thanks for any help.

Not a vase, it's a spooner. Check your Early American Pressed Glass reference book.

Absolutely. Do yourself a favor and get a dark background for your photos of it. It'll come up nice when you light it right.

Thanks...The books that I have are all arranged according to pattern name so, without knowing the pattern, I can't look the item up. I have gone through 2 books page by page/photo by photo looking for this pattern but with no luck so far. I did try a black background but it tends to overwhelm the image and details show up better with the white. I could probably play around a bit with lighting but, for the purposes of identifying the pattern, thought these photos would be OK...Appreciate the help..

One of the many "Daisy and Button" pattern variants, late 19th cent. Probably "Daisy and Button with Crossbar". An actual antique, with virtually no customer demand, however. More collectable in colors, but as with most pattern glass, spooners are most common items found and least desireable.
Maybe you can sell it to the antique dealer friend?

Thanks for info, Damariscotta...I'll see if I can find any other references. Wouldn't you know it would be an "actual antique" but with no desirability? Oh well...
