Sorry, bad joke.

I usually don't ship outside of the US. I make the occasional exception for nice people who beg adeptly and sweetly but I do not advertise that fact and my ebay preferences are always set to block bids from anyone outside the US.

Last night one of my listings ended with a winning bidder who is registered in Denmark. The underbidder was also registered in Denmark.

I did double check my preferences and they were still set on block those from countries I do not ship to or what ever it says.

Does anyone know why this happened and what I can do to be sure it doesn't happen again?

Contact Live Help and ask them to explain it.

I thought of Live Help but when I click the home page LH link I only get a blank screen. I took it as an omen. lol

I guess I will just pray that the Nigerians are still blocked.

Denmark isn't exactly an international hotbed of fraud and I've shipped there many times over the years without problem. If the item wasn't a popular consumer electronic item (iPod, XBox, or phone) then any transaction is likely quite safe provided you get paid via a non-reversible payment method.

Perhaps the item was Danish related?

I also have shipped lots of items to Denmark with no problem whatsoever. The Danes write and understand English and the mail system is safe. Great customers!

I should have said that I am planning to complete this transaction and yes, it is a Danish item. (Aluminia) I expected people from Denmark to write and ask if they could bid. They usually do when I sell such pottery.

I agree they are very polite plus my family background is Danish on my mother's side and if I don't complete this transaction at least one of my dead relatives will haunt me.

I just don't want people from less reliable countries bidding.

Zippy, it is possible that they are registered on the US site instead of the UK site. I think that allows their bids to maeit through. Check their ID history.

We posted an item for a friend who did not want to ship out of the country. Got a bid from Russia but they were outbid. The explanation we got is that they were registered in the US.
