if your Premier/Business account rate for receiving funds is 2.9% + $0.30, using PayPal's 5% + $0.05 micropayments rate would reduce the total transaction fee charged to payments received below the value of $12 (per payment). However, if you accept payments that are greater than $12, you would pay a lower processing charge by accepting the payment into the account set with the 2.9% + $0.30 rate.

Take a 10 dollars payment from your bidder, the macro way would cost you 59 cents while the micro way would cost you 55 cents,a 4 cents savings!
If you are a jewelry seller selling jewelry for 99 cents and charge shipping of 6 dollars, total 6.99
then the macro way is 50 cents while the micro way is 40 cents,a 10 cents savings is not too shabby if you have many such transactions.
