Being too busy to shop, I ordered some Hanes underwear on eBay. Got the shipping notification this morning along with this helpful note:
"I sent you a couple of pair of used along with the new ones."
I'm sure the seller thinks she's doing her bit for exemplary customer service by adding a little extra to the package. But I did not need that mental imagery first thing in the morning...

Fluff - Do you think this seller is like our friend the sock seller with a "special" clientele? I hope the extras you get have been laundered. Quintuple EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

they pulled the used panties auctions from eBaY a few years ago.
I can't imagine you're wanting to open your package when it arrivesd in a few days.

I think this lady seller is a little strange. Her feedback is over 1000, but when a couple days had gone by and I hadn't paid her yet, she sent me this angst-filled missive about how she was worried that she needed to start worrying about payment.
No, I'm not looking forward to opening that package. Puts me in mind of the seller years ago who sent my set of sterling silver flatware wrapped in used surgical drapes. There were blood and pus stains all over them.
Maybe I should be shopping for a biohazard suit on eBay.

I wouldn't want to get one of those -- used! Who knows where it would have been.
I can't even think of an analogy that would come close to the "ick" value this story has.
You KNOW you'll have to keep us updated on this one, right fLufF?
Reminds me of when we purchased new pillows from a seller who had great feedback. They arrived in a large box that had apparently been used as a trash can previously. It didn't have any visible staining, but the smell was definitely the same. The pillows had been placed "lovingly" into never-used draw-string kitchen trash bags - but they weren't sealed at all - so the smell transferred to the pillows. YUCK!
They promised Priority Mail shipping - and from Ohio would have been 2-3 days. They arrived in 6 days - FedEx Ground.
The seller apologized and said the person shipping for her (not at her location) had "upgraded" the shipment to FedEx as a courtesy to her (yeah, cheaper for her, but slower for me). She ended up paying $32 to have 4 of them drycleaned - and the smell disappeared - but left an indellible impression on me.
It's one of the reasons we ship everything ourselves, including consigned items, and we don't re-use packaging.
Remember to tell us what your package contains, fLufF!

I would not like that surprise, either, but if you put in a search for used or well worn, many people are making quite a nice income from "worn out" articles of clothing. This lady is missing the boat, along with a few other things.

Also, if you do a search for "used panties" they are still there and they are NOT Hanes.

OMG - I just cleaned out my dressers of tons of oversized grunderwear I couldn't stomach donating to Salvation Army - they hit the garbage. Recycling/reuse has its limits.

mcjane, your link came up as unfound to me. The 2 "used panties" auctions are 280150016608 and 280150031201.
Waste of 50 cents on the subtitle, could have fit it all in the title line!! Aren't I thrifty?!

I think I would have to let her know that the package would be returned to her unopened, and then refuse it when it arrives. Eeeuuw is right! I wouldn't want to open that box and even handle the contents just to get them to the trash! That's just plain disgusting. Yuck.

merrie, when I click on the link I posted I get this message:
This listing (280150016608) has been removed or is no longer available. Please make sure you entered the right item number.
If the listing was removed by eBay, consider it canceled. Note: Listings that have ended more than 90 days ago will no longer appear on eBay.
For anyone who didn't see it, the picture showed a girls lower legs with her used panties around her ankles. There were three different pair. three different poses.

Used panty auctions typically are one day auctions ~ they get pulled as they are no longer permitted on the site.
The sellers are newbies (reincarnated id's).
This was a HUGE business of eBaY a few years back ~ used socks and pantyhose, too!
eBaY made a FORTUNE on these auctions!
The used and nasty shoes still bring in a big buck ~ try searching "jock worn" and you will see many private auctions with high bids and risque pics with the required *all items cleaned per eBaY standards* (but then the seller adds to the description "e-mail for special requests".)

Don't know. When I left, the package still hadn't arrived.
I wonder if I could file SNAD with PayPal. After all, if she'd mentioned the "bonus" in the auction I probably would not have bid.

Update.
The package was in the giant box of mail when we returned this weekend. She had shipped it in a manila envelope, which wouldn't be an issue except that somewhere along the way the package had gotten wet.
The label has yellow stains all over it and guess what I found when I opened it? The panties are stained, too, from the yellow dye (I hope that's what it is!) that makes manila tan-colored.
But more than that, imagine my surprise when the item that appeared in the auction as a plastic-wrapped package of underwear arrives loose and unwrapped inside the manila envelope.
I can't even tell for sure which were supposed to be new and which were the freebies. About half of them are stained from the package dye.
Oh yeah, I'm filing a PayPal SNAD, you betcha.

My nasty mind would incline to include a few "bonus" used items with the return.
