Has anyone included links to Wikipedia information in their item descriptions?

For example, in my case, it would be placing a link to Wikipedia's "Postage stamps and postal history of Hong Kong" within an item description of Hong Kong stamps.

Such a link passes ebay's criteria for an information link. And, may help with Google.

I'm seeking your opinions.

What helps with Google, Alexa, et al are sites that link to YOU.

Otherwise you'd see 10,000-page sites that are nothing but outbound links.

I've done it to document an interesting aspect of my listing. Make sure it opens in a new window or tab so your listing doesn't get lost.

I've seen some sellers include the text of Wiki pages within their auction subscription.

I am currently using Wikipedia in two current auction listings. One is a link to Wikipedia http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160156487334

and the other is in the description box. I am rather embarassed to cite it because the postcard is not that unusual. Before listing I checked the Wiki reference and found it interesting so decided to include in the listing as an experiment. I thought it might appeal to European buyers. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160156866406

Now I see that Wikipedia has somehow highjacked the top navigation bar on the ebay page (the place where ebay search is and Community links etc). Have to figure out how to edit whatever it is out!** I revised the item and got out the HTML that covered up the search box. WHEW! I don't think ebay wants anyone messing with that part of the listing. Guess you have to be careful when you copy&paste Wikipedia!

fluffy is right - it does not help with Google to link to Wiki.

in fact, even if Wiki links to YOU, it doesn't help, because Wiki uses the index/no follow command in its html, thus telling search engine bots not to follow the gazillion links out from Wiki to elsewhere.
