A really rare item we collect was posted as a 3 day auction. The seller had 100% perfect feedback. There were no red flags in the type of things he sold. I entered what is (for me) a really high bid in eSnip and have watched as the price climed to the mid $100s. I knew it would go much higher with the snipes but hoped for the best. It was on my watch list until a few mintes before the auction was to close but when I refreshed POOF! it was gone. If the seller pulled the auction wouldn't it say "ended" instead of "This listing (150162601796) has been removed or is no longer available"? Does this mean that eBay pulled it?

Bummer! I wanted it so bad!

Yep, only eBay can make things POOF entirely. Could it have been a hijacked account? Perhaps they'll relist if they get things worked out with eBay.

I figured it had to be eBay. I also did not understand why the seller used a 3 day auction. It was beyond rare and would have gone for big bucks.

I did not make print out the auction so I don't know who they are. I tried to search but can't find any trace. I am going to look at my computer history to see if I can find his feedback.

Is it possible a seller would use a 3-day auction hoping to stay under eBay's radar with an item that was questionable -- or if an account had been hijacked?

It was a strange item to use if it was a hijacked account. It was a one-of-a-kind antique item with a small but rabid group of collectors. Seems one would want a high dollar item that exists in large numbers, electronics, jewelry, etc. so it would be more likely to slip under the radar.
