One of those supermarket tabloids today had a cover headline that Rachael's marriage was dissolving, 500 million-dollar settlement. Can any of that be true? She speaks fondly of her husband--a lot.
Same tabloid said Dr. Phil's marriage was in trouble. I don't believe that one.

I don't read the tabloids and never believe them, just see the covers at the check-out stand. But the one about Rachael really surprised me; if it's not true, and I'm sure it's not, it's screaming out for a lawsuit.
I use Rachael's EVOO all the time in my cooking, and I think she has some great recipes--mostly, though, just ways to throw food together without cooking, which works for me! I don't watch her show more than once a month, because, for some reason, it wears me out watching and listening. . . .

Guilty pleasure: When going to the beach, I stock up on the tabloids. Although I prefer the "medical" ones - 82 year-old gives birth to triplets, I also enjoy the celebrity news: the Bush's agree to divorce after the Presidency, Charles tires of Camilla, Brittany losing her kids, etc.

Exactly cash - ever since our local paper (Star& Tribune) got sold, it looks more like a gossip mag than a REAL newspaper. You don't have to buy the gossip papers at the checkout to get your fill of celebrity news in every market in the US (including, unfortunately, the WSJ).
Ask any person on the street about Paris' or Lindsay's or Brittney's latest self-destructive adventure and they will know it...ask them about the front runners in the Presidential campaign and they don't have a clue. In fact I'll bet most can't name the vice-president of the United States or who their senator or congressman is.
My confession is that I really don't know who Rachel Ray is or a thing about her marriage.

I sometimes watch her 30 minute meals but when she pulls something out of the fridge and dumps it in the pan with a "I washed it before I put it away." she loses me. Prep is most of the time when I cook and I have always heard not to wash things before storing them. I am especially suspicious when she dumps something from the store wrapper.
Read an article that said a lot of people hate her big time because she is so perky. -----o----o----o----o----o----o----o----o

She really is in person just as you see. That's what gave her her start here. She worked just outside of Albany, in a place that sold crafty type food(jellies, breads, etc), and salads, and sandwiches. I often went there for lunch. She was behind the counter and it was always so nice to have her wait on me. It really brightened my day. I'm sure that was why our local TV station used her (at first just a one or two time thing) along with another local person..because she was so positive and "up". Then she got her 30 minute meals, did a lot of in persons for charity work (which I really enjoyed..we would pay $5 entrance (through a supermarker that started in this area) and about 75 people would get to watch her cook in person. I got my books personalized, and got to visit with her.
She's a really nice person..and I'm glad she got all these oportunities.

She is upbeat, peppy, and adorable (and also has no neck--have you noticed??). And her name is spelled RACHAEL.
My big beef with all those cooking shows that tell us we can make 30-minute meals is this: How much time do we take, first, thinking about what to serve, THEN buying the ingredients (another half hour or so), then storing them, then taking them out of the fridge or out of cans, and - the silliest - putting the ingredients each in their own little bowl or dish on the counter.
And finally--the 30-minute meal prep begins! Someone did all the background work for them so they could stand at that counter and show us how easy it is.
I do have nutritious meals (mostly a protein item, a veggie item, and MAYBE something else) that I can prepare in 15 - 30 minutes. But I never discount all the thinking and running around that makes those meals possible to throw together fast, when finally at home.
End of rant!
