Yep - just saw it and took a screen shot. This is the first time I'e seen it - odd thing is when I went to my acct I didn't get that message and several payments I received this am were there.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this was that PayPal/eBay are providing a "reason" for their delays that we've all come to love and expect.
Now, instead of us wondering if their systems are fouled up (again) or thinking that there's another "human" glitch - they'll just tell us "it's to benefit you - both sellers and buyers!"
It's no longer a glitch... we wanted it to do that.
Then - I think of John Lovitz' character - the liar -- "yeah, that's the ticket... tell 'em it was the plan all along... yeah... they'll believe it if we come up with a cute name for it... That's what we need. A new slogan, too... That'll fix it. Yeah, that's the ticket..."

You know what's always amazed me about eBay?
Most companies of that size are absolutely scrupulous about communications, mostly because of liability but also because miscommunication causes loss of goodwill and even revenue.
eBay lets any schmoe with an ID badge speak for it. Heck, I'm expecting updates from the janitorial staff any day now.

Gasolineguy, perhaps they pulled it. Fluffy's right - almost every tech company I worked for required every public announcement to go through legal, or at least marketing scrutiny before publishing.

I thought it looked like the same think eBay does when you list and item and they say it won't appear for a while. My payments have been coming through quickly tonight.

Stone how do you get your customers to use it, not supposed to be as a form of payment??
How do you get into your listings, I would like to do the same!!

Can you say, "Google Checkout"
I use it, love it, glad I take it. 100% safer than PayPal and it slowly, but surely is catching on.

While eBay won't let you place it in your listing, there is nothing that says you can't offer it when you send your end of auction notice.
I actually use Google to send the invoice. That helps, plus I do place it on my webstore and other online auction sites. I receive about 15% of payments from Google right now. Up from even 6 months ago and I do see that trend continuing. And with other sellers starting to offer it, more buyers are getting familiar with it and will begin to choose it over PayPal as their first choice to send payment.
Be patient though. Don't expect Google to overtake PayPal in the short term.
