It occurs to me that eBay's changes and complexity are somewhat like that of the VCR problem so many have. Some kid in an office says, "Hey, look at this! It's cool!" And because they CAN tweak something, they DO.

And someone higher up thinks the gizmo (or eBay) will be more attractive to buyers out there. Wrong.

I've heard complaints on talk shows about how hard it is to work their VCR--too many extras they don't want or need on the remote. Ditto for microwaves.

Our new VCR is such a pain that even my husband, a scientist by training and a details geek, can't figure out what's going on. He has three different remotes now, one for the TV, one for the VCR, and one for the new DVD recorder. He's no dummy. And I've totally given up. If he weren't around, I'd just watch TV and be done with it.
