Overstock Auctions Runs 'eBay Boycott' Listing Sale

I have never tried Big-O.
Is it worth the time and energy?

VD does not launch to O or eCrater

I tried Overstock and had a little success, but the overall experience really wasn't very positive.

As far as VD not launching to ecrater. You don't need it to. ecrater is a webstore. You post your item(s) and they are there until either sold or you remove them.

I've not tried overstock - but I've been seriously considering starting a Ruby Lane store.

Anybody have any Ruby Lane stories they'd care to share?

I have eCrater account but have never really messed with it.
I have not figured it out and do not understand it .
It may be easy but if ya do not understand how to do it---it's not

Overstock sucks.

I liken it to eBay's much younger, much less successful half-brother, trying to keep up but failing miserably.

I have sold over 280 items on Overstock Auction, most $10 items, most sold in the first few months when the Auction was launched.
Someone sold some nice antique books on Overstock recently,I think they will fetch more if sold on Ebay.
Overstock has no payment system like One Click or Paypal and there is really no way to penalise a bidder if he does not want to pay.
The problem is that the bidders are Overstock customers ,it is not like Ebay where you get new bidders every day.

When Overstock first started auctions, it attracted a lot of new users through the use of several interesting promotions (anyone remember the "Be my friend" contest?).

However, the site administrators and programmers were very slow to respond to site issues, and the vast majority of new users had left the site before Overstock Auctions could make any impact in the online auction world.

The company gives little promotion for the auction site - any marketing activities seem to be solely for the parent website. Maybe that could change, but I doubt it.

Huh, that means you paid for 10-15 relists or more. That don't make much business sense.

95% of them were sold as 'buy it now',back then you can start an item at 9.99 and BIN price as 10 dollars.
Now they have made changes,BIN price has to be 50% more than the starting bid.
Yes,Overstock support is terrible and the back office side of its auction is hard to navigate.
Majority of my items are sold first time on Ebay and anywhere,if you have to list and relist and relist, you should go back to school and learn retailing 101.
PS.
We all tend to blame someone ,never ourselves when things dont go our way, with selling,it is either the venue, the payment system, the big sellers, the bidder, the government, the economy, the weather, war and tax,but the industry is maturing, bidders expect better goods, better service at a better price, ordinary items which used to sell are just too ordinary, coffee mug, resin teddy bears, ash tray etc.
There are also too many sellers, anyone everyone can sell and the price just collapsed. !
Take a look at Epier,Bidville , many sellers imported their Ebay feedback, look at what they sell, most of these items just arent worth the effort and $$ to list on Ebay and they just languish on those sites.
