I wish the geniuses in eBay's Marketing Department would stop for JUST ONE MOMENT and think about notifying sellers in advance about these promotions.

Okay, so the 10% comes from eBay and not the seller. But I would happily give 10% off the purchase as well, for a combined 20% off. Now that is a sweet deal.

eBay, work with us, for crying out loud. Stop working against us.

Anyway, glassgrl, spend your coupon with me and I'll give you another 10% off.

I wonder how they determined who would get a coupon? I've bought plenty recently. Fluff - I would gladly use mine with you if I had one.

I wish customers could use the coupon to purchase multiple items from the seller and get 10% off the entire order. Folks aren't likely to use for a single low ticket item.

Is it ebay legal to list something like this:

MAKE YOUR OWN $50 POSTCARD LOT + FREE SHIP
BIN $45
Choose from the Buy-It-Now postcards in my Ebay store and email me your lot list. If you are not able to reach the exact amount, choose another card and as long as the total does not exceed $55, that card will be included as well. DO NOT EXECUTE THE BUY-IT-NOW on the individual listings!

NOTE: This listing by itself is not eligible for my 10% discount offer, but if you combine it with 4 more items, you will receive an ADDITIONAL 10% off the entire total PLUS Free Shipping!

neglus...I have tried it a couple of times. I have 100-200 MATCHBOX diecast and I listed an auction for the ENTIRE amount that I had on in my ebay store. I took only a few photos of 20-30 items and stated that EACH on could be seen individually in the store. If the auction had won, I would have ended each one individually. It was kind of like a GOING OUT OF BUSINESS auction. Did it with some fishing supplies also.

So it wouldn't exactly be a "Choice Auction" because the items are listed elsewhere and I am not trying to evade fees - just trying to get a listing high enough to make the ebay gift certificate attractive. I currently offer a multiple purchase discount of 10% but end up paying the FVF on the undiscounted total which stinks big time.

I liked the coupon I got much better: $5 off shipping five times. So bought several items from one person who combined shipping, used the $5 coupon once which gave me about 10% discount on the total cost with shipping; three other purchases made from individual sellers, used three times -- total savings 35%, 25%, 20% respectively. Only have one left -- wish I could get another one!

Came to the buying account I buy the most with -- $10-200 items, mostly on the lower end of the pricing spectrum.

So since this apparently is a selective promotion that isn't the same across the board, I'm not sure how one could take advantage of it from a seller's point of view.
