I had to laugh this morning. I'm being cruel to some prospective buyers and it feels so good.
I have a Buy It Now commodity lot, a big bag of sterling scrap. I usually list these whenever my scrap bin reaches a certain quantity, so bidders don't know when I might put one up for sale. I know these are avidly watched for.
I always put a Best Offer on these auctions, but I never ever ever accept any offers. I just let them *think* they've got a chance. That's the cruel part. These guys are watching to see if their offer will be accepted (having checked the spot price of silver, of course and gloating over what a great deal they'll be getting) when BLAM! Someone comes along and pays full BIN price. Poor watchers don't know if or when another lot will come along.
Creating pent-up demand, folks. That's how you do it. BWAH-HAH-HAH!
