ARGH! I recently changed by eBay email address to stop all the phish/scam emails I had to wade through to find my real messages. It was getting to be like a mine field with all the fake ASQ's and PP notices. I even went on an email break for awhile because I just didn't have the time to try to figure out what was what.

Now I have a nice clean email with only eBay related messages coming in EXCEPT that one of my customers added me to his group email list (you know the ones where there forward crap to a bunch of people). I emailed back today and asked him nicely to take me off his list because my email was for business use only. Then I got bombarded with more from him! How do I stop this? I "reported" as spam (a button at the top of the Gmail mail program) but that didn't stop it.

That's because it isn't spam. You actually have a relationship with this person, hence there's a conversation in Gmail.

I had an old customer who put me in her address book and boy did I get hammered with her broadcast emails. I asked nicely to be removed. Three times. Didn't happen; she claimed not to know how. The next email was:

"Either you remove me from your address book or I'm emailing everyone you know to say that you've got a nasty case of the clap and you didn't get it from your husband. Sure, some will ignore it, but others will believe."

Gee, she figured out how to remove me. How about that.

well spamcop will just blacklist them and they won't be able to send or receive any emails but I guess that will work just as well fluffy LOL.

neglus: try removing them from your contact list first, then mark them as spam.

Or you can create a filter that will automatically move messages from certain people or with certain words to your trash or spam file.

I don't think I should report him to his ISP - it's just the typical jokes, chain letters etc that people feel the whole world should enjoy receiving (ugh)- nothing malicious.

Beth you use gmail too don't you? I cleared him off the contact list and reported one of his jokes as spam so maybe that will work (crossing fingers). I will do the filter if it doesn't. Too bad - he's a very friendly guy - sent me a $20 bill for a $13 postcard and told me to keep the change and get a cup of coffee. Still, $7 doesn't cover the PITA extra emails I don't want to read.

I remember having to ask my older sister to take me off her list shortly after she got her first email account.

So do I.

My older sister, not yours; I'd trade older sisters with you in a heartbeat. And mine lives 60 miles away from you! How about it: deal?

Guilty - but that was back in the days right after Al Gore invented the Internet and I was like a kid with a new toy. How fun was that to be able to communicate with everyone I knew with a click! The novelty soon wore off though ... I HATE email now.
