It's been a while since we've heard from either Fluff or Tom. Hope they're on vacation and all is OK!

Fluff had mentioned a cruise a while back, but I think she had had enough EO for a while anyway.

They are both still listing so perhaps just taking an EO break.

I noticed that Fluff has taken a pro-active (and heretofore uncharacteristic) approach to getting good DSR ratings. I hope she comes back and tells us how it is working. I think we all need to take DSR's VERY seriously now because it appears that eBay is not going to back down.

I noticed Fluff's "pro-active" message re stars. I put mine in my "thank you for paying and your item is on its way" email. Have had positive results

Not knowing everyone's User IDs on eBay -- how do you "take a more pro-active approach" on the DSR ratings? Any hints? I charge exact shipping priority and usually eat the extra when overweight but it is not reflected in my DSR?

You can beg for 5 stars but that sucks! Buyers usually don't want to give perfect scores. The current rating system hurts sellers.

After all the begging and pleading...is it worth the $15.00 bonus discount??

Some sellers are not just begging for the discount. They are begging in order to keep their powerseller 'status." (Such as it is.)

"New requirement effective July 2008: have maintained a rating of 4.5 or higher for the past 12 months in all four detailed seller ratings (DSRs) - item as described, communication, shipping time, and shipping and handling charges."

"is it worth the $15.00 bonus discount??"

It's 15%, not $15.00.

$15.00 was a 5% discount on the FVF of almost $3,000 in sales. Hitting that 15% discount is DREAM that probably will happen to VERY FEW powersellers.

"Hitting that 15% discount is DREAM that probably will happen to VERY FEW powersellers."

Ralphie & I made it to 15% rebate; worked out to (?)$25...

And, "YES," we pro-actively BEG our buyers for high DSR's...

Each "YOUR ITEM HAS SHIPPED" email has a groveling blurb that explains the new system and politely requests that, if they intended to leave a rating less than 4.9, that they contact us before hand, so we may discuss any "concerns."

Seems to be working as we no longer are getting RAVE feedbacks coupled with crappy stars...

An un-scientific guess on Ralphie's part: "Most buyers are totally CLUELESS as to the import & impact of the stars"

A little POLITE EDUCATION goes a loooong way...

Actually adding a 50 cent or $1.00 handling charge will net you way more than the lousy 15%. I have the stars but am not a power seller and have had a 50 cent handling charge now for two years with no complaints from buyers (it is stated up front that the charge is added to actual shipping cost). Don't get me wrong, I would love to have the discount too!

This star thing is a joke. I just looked at one powersellers and his is 4.4 on almost everything and has negatives and neutrals like you wouldn't believe. It sure doesn't worry him any.

This star thing is nothing more than a waste of time, and really nothing to be concerned about in my opinion.
