No more Pre-Approved bidder listings!

2:40:40 PM Mary A.
Hello, thanks for waiting and welcome to eBay Live Help! My name is Mary. How may I help you?
2:41:22 PM ME
Hi Mary, I want to set one of my listings for pre-approved bidders but can not find the link for my pre-approved list
2:42:54 PM Mary A.
Oh, I'm sorry but Pre-Approved Bidder is being discontinued.
2:43:33 PM Mary A.
It is because it enables sellers to collect, and potentially misuse, the email addresses of prospective bidders.
2:43:39 PM Mary A.
Inappropriate use of bidder information is, of course, a violation of the eBay Privacy Policy.
2:43:57 PM Mary A.
Occasionally, sellers who have been approved by eBay may receive limited access to this feature.
2:44:33 PM ME
That is insane! Would ebay prefer we just just sell directly outside of ebay? If we can not offer special listings and control who can buy them, that is exactly what will start happening.
2:45:17 PM ME
And just what does it take to get approval? I am a Silver power seller with a 4.9 DSR
2:46:59 PM Mary A.
Usually, only listings that are listed through eBay Giving Works and Mission Fish or listings that have a scanned letter from a non-profit organization will get approval.
2:47:09 PM Mary A.
I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
2:47:39 PM ME
It is a serious inconvenience.
2:48:17 PM ME
I hope you have a better day than ebay has been giving us sellers lately!

PS, I'm about to tell ebay to KMA. I'll be gone on a cruise next week and if my attitude does not change, upon my return I will be spending my $500 a month on my own websites.

Yes, it's been like this for a while now. It stinks. I loved the PAB option.

"Usually, only listings that are listed through eBay Giving Works and Mission Fish or listings that have a scanned letter from a non-profit organization will get approval."

"Usually" means that some high profile, non-charitable listings, such as the corn flake auction, are eligible too.

"It is because it enables sellers to collect, and potentially misuse, the email addresses of prospective bidders."

This is a crock of bull-you-know-what.
