OMG, is this the mother load or what? This box is filled with cars in their original boxes:

I can't wait to get to the rest of the stuff in this estate. I do know there is an old viewfinder. There's even an old Hawaiian Black Coral carved bust. This woman tried to give these things to her kids, but they didn't want any part of them. Their loss, my (and my customer's) gain.

I may be coming back for help in the coming week. It will take days to go through all this stuff. Just thought you'd get a kick out of the cars in their boxes. They don't look played with. Lot them? Or, sell individually?

If they are authentic oldies,I would sell them individually.

I don't know if there are any red line cars or not. I'll have to go through them if I ever find the time. There's also a Daisy target pistol in the original box. Looks like it's unused. Am I allowed to sell that?

niel35 - A Daisy is a toy gun. It's not a real weapon. At least it isn't supposed to be. It shoots pellets like the one on Christmas story only this is a pistol and not a rifle.

I know that it is important to show the orange or red plug at the end of the barrel in your pics. I don't believe you can include ammunition even if it is a toy.

Cheryl, sounds like you have your work cut out for you, but what fun to go through everything and see what you can get. Good Luck

Red Lines are Hot Wheels, not Matchbox.

I sell hundreds of MATCHBOX and HOT WHEELS....the "redline" are basically HOT WHEELS ,... NOT .. MATCHBOX. That is a GREAT BOX of cars. I personally would sell them individually. Be real careful describing them, due to the fact of the VARIETIES of each that are out there. Some will have different logos(tampos)..different color interiors...etc. An added footnote...even if you have EMPTY boxes it that condition ...they SELL. It is like the Lionel Train boxes, I have seen those bring $100+ for an EMPTY box(#360035470810)!! E-mail if you need any questions answered about the cars...

The white ambulance...$40-50 car

Yes, Matchbox collectors are very anal about condition.

Describe, describe, describe and you should just be fine. I would also list them one at a time.

Nice haul!

Cheryl, What do you mean by "old view finder"?

I should have said View Master. I think it's Bakelite (quick pic):

I wonder if these kids were not allowed to play with their toys or just not interested?

I wondered that, too, Zippy. My toys were well played with!!

Great find, Cheryl (I mean the whole estate)! Good going!

P.S. In case you need to write the phrase again, it's "mother lode" not "mother load."

Whew! Glad someone mentioned Red Lines being Hot Wheels and not Matchbox. Good luck with the View-Master, bakelite or not, they don't do as well as they use to. The toy market has been pretty sick the last 3 years or so but if it has moving parts or has wheels, it will sell. Cap Guns and accessories can also be sold on auctionarms.com which started when eBay outlawed them.

Good luck, Cheryl! One piece of advice...be SURE to mark your cars with a black light pen or some other "invisible" mark. I sold a couple of matchbox cars a while back which were in excellent condition. One buyer said the car was not in good condition and wanted to send it back. I said "sure" but that I had marked it and would offer a complete refund upon receipt of the car and verification it was the one I sent. I never heard back from him. A few shady buyers out there in eBay land will buy your good condition cars and try to exchange their less-good ones.
