I made a large wholesale purchase from a new supplier and indicated I would pay by credit card. When I received the authorization form, they wanted photos of my credit card front and back plus a clear copy of my driver's license. Not scans, paper copies. Yeah, I'm sure they're kept in locked file cabinets.
That's just about all anyone needs to embark on a splendid shopping spree. I have no faith whatsoever in credit card fraud detection; it only seems to serve to block ME from using my card freely.
Fortunately these folks also take PayPal. I never thought I'd say that.

I ordered replacement glass for my car from Seattle. They wanted the same thing, scans front + back of CC and of my driver's license. They didn't take PayPal.

They might someday, though. PayPal is really invested in growing the non-eBay portion of the business. They want to be the ecommerce payment solution of choice.
