(btw)starting bid on this item $24, retails for $44 and up.
Dear xxxx,
I would be willing to pay $10.00 for this. This is the price that a fine boutique near my house is getting for them. Let me know if you would be willing to do this. Thanks!

Dear xxx,
Perhaps you should pick it up at the fine boutique near your house and save on the shipping cost as well.

I keep getting questions from a guy asking if I'll take an offer on a certain card in my store. After his third - Why don't you respond? I replied "I don't take offers". He responded with another offer - 49 cents cheaper than my BIN price. I ignored it and blocked him.

I would have responded the same way too.
When we were at a Flea Market once I had a really good item priced at $15.00. Someone who had obviously been reading all the "Tips on how to get something for nothing" books came by:-
The man and his wife stood there and examined it in detail whilst plotting their plan of attack on me...finally he said
"What's your Best Price on this"?
I replied "$25.00". He looked stunned and paid me the $15.00.
I have since used that a lot and it usually makes people laugh and I get my price.

She's probably been banned from the "fine boutique."
(If such a place exists, of course.)

let her go to the boutique down the street
WHY is she even wasting your time, bothering you?
If she can get it for $10 -- tell her to get dress and go get it

Ask her the name of the boutique because you'd like to buy some at that price!

I like your snappy answer!
reminds of a million years ago ~ anyone remember Mad Magazine Al Jaffee's Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions book?
One of my all time favorites!
Got it for my teenage son last year and now it's one of his favorites, too!
Q: Are you on the phone?
A: No, I'm talking to myself on this u-shaped tube
sthoemke:
Yes, I should've asked her the name of the boutique!
zippy:
I agree ~ if there is such a 'fine boutique', you hit it on the head ~ she must be banned from shopping there! well, now she's banned from MY 'fine boutique' as well!
duer1/mcjane:
I'm not sure if she had any clue what she was writing ~ not the shapest crayon in the box, I guess.

I haven't been here in awhile and I hardly ever sell any more, but I am having a nearly identical experience so I thought I'd bump this back up.
Found a popular, discontinued item at a local factory outlet. This is a real factory outlet; there are only two locations in the U.S., and neither is very easy to get to. So I thought What the heck, bought 10, put one up on eBay to see how it would do.
So far it's doing OK. It's up to my cost and then a little bit more with four days left to run. But I forgot how fun the idiots were!
Three people have asked me to end the auction now and sell to them. At the current bid price. (Two were explicit about this.)
When I refused one lady emailed me back very indignantly. "I know you got it at X outlet and only paid Y amount so you're very greedy to want more."
First off, lady ... AUCTION. But I restrained myself to just email her back and say "Oh, that outlet still has plenty more, if you want to go pick some up at the outlet price."
I can't wait to see what she says ....

Great answer, I bet she does not live anywhere near the outlet store! She can just jump in her car and buy the $4.00 gas and run right over there.

What Luck!!!
I am in Florida!
Please e-mail her immediately as I would be THRILLED to pick it up for her.
I will give you my paypal info ~ as soon as she sends money for my gas, time, and tolls I will run over and get it for her.
oh, please also have her include money for a few iced coffees ~ I like to drink when I drive.
oh, and the purchase price plus tax would need to be added to her payment.
Gotta love the bottom feeders, eh???

Good to be back. if only for a moment. And yes, zoomin, I will be glad to forward that info
Here's my little rant: It's really sad that things have gone so dramatically south on eBay. Even before the recent changes, it had become nearly impossible to recoup enough to make it worth my while as a part-timer.
From a buyer's standpoint, the immense variety of goods that used to be available on eBay has diminished significantly ... along with the IQ of the bidders, (from a seller's standpoint).
I disposed of most of my old stock on LiveJournal and a few private sites and did much better (with much less hassle) than I ever could on eBay. But I wanted to give it one more try for old times' sake ...

Dear 3mossflowers,
Hi! If you are going to buy these pants, you need to know that the post office will not deliver them to you for $4.50. Sorry about that ~
