Hi deur1:

We're still kicking!

But, my STARS have taken a real hit the past 3 days -- they're RUINED by two clowns, and I'm thoroughly discouraged about the whole feeBay thing anymore...

Ralphie's crystal paw predicts the decline & fall of feeBay within 18 months, when, due to the idiotic changes inststuted lately, feeBay will be just another AMAZON.COM, and a loser at that...

I'm ready to GIVE UP on feeBay...

Ralphie is decopaging his pencil-can in preparation for our new career move...

Tom - your stars don't look bad and your FB % is 100%!

Instead of worrying and fussing about things I can't control I have decided to just keep on keeping on. When they turn out the lights I will find someplace else to go. If it comes to that, SOMEONE will be there to pick up the pieces and will be wooing sellers again. Bill Gates is chomping at the bit to get in to the game. Heck, he won't even need to spend all that money for Yahoo. He can just wait for Donahue to finish eBay off.

Tell Ralphie to put the pencils back in the can and get back to work sniffing out great things for you to sell.

I was going to say the same thing - when is 100% bad?

BUT I'm getting this on your auctions:

it COULD just be that I'm clicking on the page when it's taking a long time to load........

GG:

Are you on FIREFOX for yer browser?

The PayPal script at the bottom of my listings is incompatable with Firefox, but I've yet to hear of any problems with IE7...

So, I had a choice of editing 325 listings for the very few (5%?) of buyers on Firefox, or just listen to Ralphie, who opines, in his ever prescient view: "Some days ya get the elevator, and some days ya get da shaft."

yes FF. But who doesn't use it? And why?

I was thinking about trying Ubuntu. A lot of people really like it.

"Ubuntu" Yikes! I took 3 years of SWAHILI in college, & I think that translates as "jock itch?"

NEGLUS:

You said:

"Tell Ralphie to put the pencils back in the can and get back to work sniffing out great things for you to sell."

THANKS for the encouraging words, but every day it gets harder & harder to accept the total DISASTER that feeBay is becoming...

After I got the RED STAR, I really didn't care about FB at all -- if somebody left FB for me, I reciprocated quickly, but couldsn't care less...

And, I don't care about the measley rebate -- On my $800 monthly feeBay bill, I only got $25, representing 15%...

What I DO care about is the SEARCH fiasco slated for July(?)...

I don't know anymore...

Things were really looking up fore me & my roomie: MY medication regimen FINALLY is on the right track with OPANA ER (after 2 years of screwing around), and FINALLY, Ralphie's tummy troubles appear to be solved, so, things were really getting A-OK, and then 2 CLOWNS give us GLOWING FB, coupled with STOMPED STARS, and I'm just pretty deflated...

Tom - I'm getting the same script error glassgrl is getting and I use FF. Your listings seem to stall just before that error comes up.

The percentage of users of Firefox on eBay is probably larger than you think. Overall, I believe it holds about a 15% market share. Of course I too get that scripting error.

Blast the stars! Quit stressing about them. All of this Doomsday talk and prognosticating is accomplishing nothing. If you have a shot at something better, then by all means go for it. If you don't, shake it off (this is the pep talk I have been giving myself today). Do the Scarlett O'Hara thing and don't worry about it today - do it tomorrow.(My life motto). Ebay doesn't want our input, they have made that abundantly clear. At the same time now is probably not the best time to sink a lot of money in new inventory (postcards don't count because they can be had so cheaply). If eBay crashes, what have you lost by sticking it out a little while longer now? If you figure you will lose a lot, then get out.

Besides, as I understand it, the DSR search advantage will be given to sellers with a shipping DSR of 4.5 or better. Don't sweat it.

I just finished* my taxes .... WOOO HOOO!*ok not "finished" but they are ready to take to the accountant tomorrow. My youngest graduates from college on Sunday (another woo-hoo to no more tuitions!)Now I have to spend Thursday and Friday cleaning for Mom's visit... thank god she isn't the "white glove" inspecting type. TOM..RALPHIE....

Stick with it...I was happy to get my shooting star...but then once I got it the retro feedback from 1998...I really don't care about that or the DSRs.

Too much time would be spent trying for that 15%...not worth it. I got my 5% and a whooping $20. I made more my raising my s/h 25¢. There are still a HUGE amount of buyers AND sellers that don't even realize what all these ebay changes are. I continue to list and sell on eBay, but also have started my ecrater site.

I know some like it and some don't...I like it because I can list several hundred items quickly and the major point...IT IS FREE (for now). NO paypal fees...no listing fees...no vendio fees...sad part..no sales yet(only been a week), but I am surprised at the hits and quantities that are growing on there EVERYDAY.

You mentioned Amazon...do you sell on there currently? I know books have really become a waste of time. I make A LOT more on the BRAND NEW - SEALED - TOYS & ELECTRONICS then on books and movies. I would think your scales would do good on there.

Hey...before RALPHIE goes for the pencil in the can deal...here is a good one he could try. Especially if someone can sell empty frito bags and two headed animal crackers.

******as Ralphie sheds...collect the loose hair and bag it up! For a few pennies, put it on eBay as RALPHIE CLONEABLE HAIR...PROBABLY AVAILABLE in 5 YEARS. You have certified hair that can be cloned into the FAMOUS RALPHIE POOCH! May have to use the coupon approach, eBay might not let you sell REAL HAIR...you know their funky policies and all.

As for eBay...time is short. Even medved has NO total auction counts for the past few days??? eBay probably told them not to post them because they are so low.

Neglus,

Thank you..I think many of us needed that pep talk!
I was ranting yesterday about EBay too and came to the conclusion that they just don't give a darn about the little people.

I am looking forward to actually meeeting someone from Vendio in person!

A long time ago someone suggested we had a Vendioian's convention in Vegas..did anyone ever do that?

Reality check: Auction count at powersellersunite is 14.6 million for eBay. That is not low at all -- considerably more than this time last year. Medved has become increasingly a no-show in the last year or two but you can still see May, 2007 with 11 million this date. Must have been some sort of promotion before Memorial Day since listings shot up to 15 million.

Tom, take a vacation from feedback. I haven't looked at mine in over a year. The DSR's discount doesn't amount to much and isn't worth sweating over. Work eBay any way you can - the final target is more income + more profit.

birgittaw...reality check...check the numbers from 2005 and 2006...

2007 and 2008 is when eBay started trying their new "features"....and auctions dropped by the millions...and probably would have been even lower if we could prove the scams like with the SDC auctions a few months ago.

rh: Are we not looking at the same thing? I find 12 million in most of May of 2006, same thing in 2005 except for spikes, no doubt related to some sort of promotion. Note that in 2005, the count ends at 17 million on 5-23, with no further data for the rest of the month. In June, when figures reappear, the beginning of the month shows 12 million something.

Nothing unusual for this time of year at all. I only check because past experience shows my sales as strongest when the count is 14 million and below. I'm happiest at 12 million though.

I do have a few categories I check on a daily basis. Numbers are about what I would expect -- nothing inflated there (no, it's not cell phone covers).

Tom,
Keep your chin up. I have been a bit down to but I hate this time of year. When the kids get out of school for the summer sales tank.
The DSR thing isn't worth the time to worry about. As far as I am concerned ebay can take those stupid stars and shove em were the sun don't shine.
Getting a neg always messes with your head. You bust your hump and what do you get. A neg from some idiot that can't read.
Glad Ralpie is feeling better my Old English Sheepdog will be going into heat soon and I need Ralphie to be at the top of his game.

Glad to hear Tom and Ralphie are doing ok.

It is aggravating and UNFAIR!
eBay could care less.
On any issue both parties should get to have their say. On eBay, the buyer gets to have their say voiced while the seller is gagged.

Also equal search ... every auction someone pays to list and should have equal opportunity to be seen!

I took Tom's advice in an earlier post, and explained the DSR system to my buyers. It is a bit long and complicated, and I am not sure how many people will read it. But here are 2 emails I received from the UK and France yesterday.
Thank you for explaining it so well about the new ebay rating.

l noticed it first when l signed in this morning but didnt get a chance to ready it yet.

l certainly will remember the scoring system and leave super great feed back for you.

Good Luck and again, Thank you for explaining it so well.

Don't be worry I will put 5 stars to you on all the lines.
I'm not a seller only a buyer but I know it is difficult to sell on ebay.
You are now in my favorite sellers .

THIS IS WHY RALPHIE & I ARE P&M'ING ABOUT STARS:

Now, my DASHBOARD has this droll missive:

Your search standing is lowered

"Your listings may receive lower placement in search results when sorted by Best match. You need to improve your selling practices to earn a higher search standing and more visibility for your items."

Poor Ralphie is allergic to K-Y, and my poor back cannot put up with any more bending over...
