If I understand correctly the new and improved ebay rules to go into effect soon August??? you will no longer be able to link to a transactional site from your My eBay page but you will be able to link to a non-transactional site.

So I am trying to figure out what might work and what might not. Right now my "My eBay" page links directly to the home page of my off ebay webstore. You can't buy something directly on the home page but you can by clicking through so I am guess this will not work under the new rules.

was thinking of using another of my domain names to host a truely non-transactional site, perhaps one that had information about postcards (types, time periods, manufacturers etc) but nothing for sale. so from such a page could I link to my website which is on another domain? Or have a message that said "this site is sponsored by www.XXXX.com " (which is my webstore), or have a link to sign up for amailing list?? eBay seems to be very vague about what you can and cannot do. I would like to get this figured out before they make the change to prevent any accidential suspensions etc. eBay does seem to be getting more aggressive in enforcing all sorts of policies of late and I would rather stay one step ahead of them if possible.

There's no point in revising until they announce the final policy changes and they haven't done that yet. They're still "reviewing." If you revise now you may have to revise again. I'd wait. You never know what goodies might be in store. Save yourself the hassle of revising twice.

"More Comprehensive Links Policy on Its Way

We originally announced that we would start enforcing our new Links policy this month. However, we're continuing to review the policy and plan to provide you with a comprehensive update around mid-August. This means we will not change our enforcement of the existing policy at this time. Once the new policy is introduced, you'll have a four week "grace period" to give you time to adjust your listings."

I fixed this potential problem by creating duplicate websites without prices for our products. In the space where prices used to be is the text "guaranteed cheaper than on eBay" in a nice font. Should work and does comply with the new eBay rules against link to transactional sites
