This email I just received is only ONE reason why this new feedback system is not going to work for sellers.
Hi. I got the ring, but I am disappointed with the color. I thought it was a different blue from your pictures than it is in person; so it doesn't match any of my green blue or robin blue turquoise pieces. I hope you can see from my positive feedback that having issues with items is not a usual occurrence for me. I am hoping you can offer some assistance in this matter.
I have listed in my auctions that shipping is not refundable if an item needs to be returned.
So in this case the buyer will be out 4.75 plus whatever it costs her to send the ring back. The ring sold for only 7.95 so this buyer is not going to be happy with my terms of return.
Reading her fb tells me nothing about her as a buyer since all FB left has to be Positive.
From the way I see it, I need to return all her money just so I don't get a Neg FB what she does to my DSR's this I will never know.
The color of the ring in the picture is the actual color just like it looks in person, so she made the mistake. But now, am I the one that should pay for her mistake?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a person buy a heavy item, he complained saying disappointed, etc.
I said "Send it back." I really didn't think he would since it cost him $18.00 shipping to him and would cost the same on the return. He paid $38.00 for the item. He did!! I refunded his $38.00 (not shipping in either direction), that was all and never heard from him again. No +, no -. Have had similar transactions in the past.
I would just refund the purchase price, no shipping.

I wonder how that negative feedback is going to read.
"It wasn't the color the voices in my head told me it would be."
Or
"Very disappointed -- it's exactly like you said it would be."
Or
"Sent me what I paid for but not what I wanted."
Don't you ever wonder what these buyers' personal lives are like?
"Honey, I know you said you were bringing home a loaf of bread but I really wanted a Corvette."
Maybe she learned it from her mother.
"You made this crayon drawing for me? Oh. I thought it would be nicer than this."

Why would she think it would be a different color than your pictures? What a dummy! I have no really good suggestion, she really does not deserve a refund but you will have to go with your heart.

It happens, different people see different color on different monitors, sometimes on the same monitor.
Did you edit the color of your ring?
Some people dont mind paying shipping both way,as long as they get some money back to BID ANOTHER DAY!

tonimar: I sell a lot of yarn on eBay, and I have found that peoples monitors are set up very differently for color. I will have a picture of a bright blue yarn, and people email and say "is it green", because that's how it looks on their monitor. I always put in my listing that "THAT THE COLORS ARE ACCURATE ON MY MONITOR, BUT MONITORS DO VARY". That must be true of jewelry too.

You are not responsible for the color of an item unless it is black and you say white. I had a Paypal claim filed against me from a buyer who claimed a rug was greener than it looked online.
Paypal sided with me for once. Tell her that monitors depict colors differently due to settings, and that is an area out of your control, therefore shipping both ways would be her responsibility if she would like to return.
If she negs you, you can always leave a reply to it explaining the situation in your feedback.

I sold a lot of cartoon DVDs and the buy left a positive say they were Disney knock offs buyer beware. I never say a damn thing about Disney in the ad,they were listed as regular cartoons. I think I need to sit next to the door at Wal-Mart and start selling.

One of the best tips (one of many) I have gotten from this board was from flufF. When there is a problem, she said "send it back." No discussion, no apologies, no haggling. It has worked like a charm. The buyer either sent the item back and I refunded purchase price (not shipping) or I never heard from them again.
It has never resulted in a neg and most times I resold the item for a higher price.Go figure!!

On one of my feedbacks I left "Could live without Selling to again".

Most of the buyers I get want a full refund including all the shipping charges including sending the item back and thats where I get the neutral or negative feedbacks. They want to keep the item with their money refunded. The reason they complain to begin with is that they wanted something for free.

The buyers have us between a rock and hard place with the new FB system.
I would save all the emails & photos and if she leaves you a negative - report her to ebay. It's clearly her error. Do as Fluffy says - tell her to send it back. Then refund the purchase price only.

I just had someone send something back to me, a few days ago. I did not refund the shipping either way, just the purchase price.

I sent her an email and said
Hi
Send the ring back to the following address
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxx
Regards,
I still think no matter she might still leave me a neg. Because I'm not giving her back any of her shipping money. The color of the stone is the exact color, I didn't enhance the picture in any way plus I took the picture using outdoor light so the color would be true to it's original color.
The worse part is Ebay lowers your search for anything less then a 5* DSR and if FB is a neg then I'm really screwed. If it was my fault then I would do all I could to please the buyer with no problem. But I'm going to be behind the 8 ball either way with this buyer unless I pay all shipping and that I am NOT going to do.

You did the right thing. Allow her to send it back, according to your policy.
If you still get a neg, in 12 months it won't count, so don't worry about it.
