Thank you, very true. I am pretty much finished with selling on ebay, unless they have a cheap (not .35) listing day.

Thanks for posting this, Fluffy. It's enlightening--and doesn't make me feel any better about the eBay (mis)management.

After just coming off my second 3 suspension in 30 days I can relate to this article. My DSR is 4.8-4.9 across the board 99.9% feedback and after 9 years of no issues I had no recourse either time. I didn't get cash removed from some old inventory that I relisted. 5 items out of 9,000. Doesn't seem fair.

When eBay goes to PayPal only and restrict MY business even more I will be on my way out.

You can apply for a merchant account to process credit card transactions or use Propay.

Unless it is google and then ebay forbids it.

I don't want to scare you, but a 3-day listing block may not be the worst of it.

It's all over the boards. PayPal has started imposing 3% 30-day rolling holds on some sellers. That means they'll hold back 3% of your October revenue until November, 3% of November's until December, etc.

There is speculation that eBay is short on cash. Supposedly they have billions tied up in offshore accounts where they can't get to it now. Take all that with a grain of salt, though, as there's no evidence that eBay is using the held money for operations or to finance their purchase of BillMeLater (they took out a loan for that).

I am assuming that paypal would not hold the 3% on sales off ebay? I hope. I really dislike paypal/ebay.

Fluff, how do they determine which sellers they are going to hold the 3% from?

Karen, I don't know but here's something I found out: PayPal has its own discussion boards for merchants and you get actual (perhaps spin) answers from staffers.

I did not find this topic discussed there, however.

If you sell electronic goods,if you get too many disputes/chargebacks or if you recall when you sign up for Paypal, you agree to allow Paypal to run credit reports on you or seek information from D&B.
Some high or even medium volume sellers are ex brick and mortar retailers who have lost their shops, defaulted on their merchant accounts and could be selling merchandise which legally belonged to their creditors.
Some could be just selling a stock photo!

There are so many different sellers on Ebay, not everyone is as honest as most of you here.If you read some of the threads on sites such as Paypalsuck.com,they dont tell you the whole story-someone claimed he shipped a large plasma TV set worth over $3000 and had a USPS DC to prove it?
One Ebay UK seller was suspended and his Paypal account restricted,he sold 36k worth of goods and used the proceeds to buy frivolous things for himself and never ship one single item.
Even on this board, there were threads where a Canadian seller selling on Ebay USA and tried to save some money by linking his sister US bank account to his Canadian Paypal account and Paypal has his account locked up.
Then a laptop seller who relied on dropshipping has 3k yanked from his paypal account, dropshipper did not ship promptly and his bidder filed dispute after 7 days and won the dispute. Then the pc arrived ,bidder got a free pc !
He came to this board asking who said he has to ship in 7 days?
Well,it is the credit card industries, not Paypal who set the rule!
