My son-in-law gave me a Coach wallet, new, in box marked "Coach" to sell; it had been a gift, but he wasn't going to use it. Can I sell it with Coach in the title? Or?

I'd be very careful. Since being sued by Tiffany, eBay is doing more to end auctions of designer items. I think there are a couple of threads on the vintage clothing board about it. You are better of not using Coach in the title, IMHO.

Whitman said she and McCain share a philosophy of scaling back the role of government. a point of view partly shaped by her EBay experience. "The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

If you are sure that your wallet is authentic and if you take your own photos and write your own description then using the Coach name should not be a problem.

It might be helpful to take this Ebay tutorial.

Cheryl, we must have posted about the same time. Since I usually sell books I'll have to defer to your answer. But the information that Ebay offers seems to indicate that it's OK.

The problem that I would have in a case like that is determining authenticity of the wallet.

Find out the name of it. Check iOffer (there's a ton of fake Coach there) to see if anyone's offering it.

The fakes have boxes and paperwork, too. I saw a girl at a garage sale who had 50 Coach cellphone cases for sale in Coach boxes with tissue - $5 each. They looked authentic but at that price could not be.

Also look to see if there's a blind embossing of "FS" [Factory Store - outlet] anywhere on it.

Rutabaga: There's no blind embossed "fs."

Cheryl: If I don't use Coach in the title but put it in the description, will that be okay, then? My gallery picture would be of the embossed "Coach" on the leather, unless that too is illegal.

I just looked for "coach wallet" on eBay and found tons of them for sale, all with "Coach" in the title. I think I'll be okay using that. We shall see, huh.

It's been my experience that putting Coach in the title. will prevent your item being found in search by days, instead of hours.

I bought a new Coach handbag from an Ebay seller who claimed to have bought it out of town for his wife and she does not like the color so he is selling it.
It came with a receipt from the store and it is as described.
But I just looked at it closely this morning when I was cleaning my closet, how can I tell if it is a real Coach or a nice knockoff?
It is new,it is clean,it has the Coach logo inside and the zipper works and it is real leather.
It is a nice handbag but anyone quality handbag maker can make one like that, why pay more for Coach?
Of course I have only used it once, does the real Coach last longer?
Or does this question belong in the category-if you have to ask, then you have no business looking at Coach or Gucci or Tiffany !
Just like the High definition Sony TV I talked into buying, after I bought the TV, I found out I need to subscribe to HD satellite service, then I found out I need a blue ray player to play my DVD and then I found out I need a HDML cable to connect my player with my HD tv.
Then I found out not all channels are high definition, and among those which claim they are, resolution varies 480,750,1080i,1080p?
Some with 1080I do look nice, but do I want to see closeup of shaving and makeup and pimples? What does it really buy me?
Thanks for letting me rant!

Pixi: The delay in appearing in the listings would be because eBay needs to examine my description etc.?

I don't know what they do during the delay. My guess is they let the VERO folks have time to determine which listings should be pulled.

I have items of erotic nature cancelled while in the queue to be launched at later time.
