Well, it happened. I was awaiting tonights listings to launch, and nothing happened. Went to Vendio pending, and saw nothing but red lettering next to my pendings.
eBay has blocked my listings because I don't take PP.

I'm so sorry Max.Its sucks that they are forcing you to take it. I know you've been selling for years without it and don't want to accept it. Its just another way for them to reach in your pocket ....

Sorry, Max. I am sure one of the ebay cheerleaders could come say something to make you feel better. NOT

Hello max40,
Here is the exact error code coming back for your listing. eBay has been sending this error message back seemingly at random for the past few months now, and it isn't known if they are hand picking these or if it's just being rolled out in phases and effecting users in groups - but you are not alone.
Error Code: 21916280
Severity: Serious Error
Short Error: Safe electronic payment method is missing.
Long Error: To list this item, you need to accept PayPal or other safe electronic payments as a payment method.
To clarify you don't have to accept PayPal payments specifically, but they are wanting you to accept some method of direct instant payment like ProPay or direct Credit Card processing through a merchant account. (which unfortunately means for your Vendio account, PayPal, as they purchased the Verisign PayFlowPro system that we currently support for direct credit card processing in out checkout system - so it is hard to get away from PayPal completely.)
Regards,
Chris

Nathan- "To clarify you don't have to accept PayPal payments specifically, but they are wanting you to accept some method of direct instant payment like ProPay or direct Credit Card processing through a merchant account"
...Verisign PayFlowPro system that we currently support "
does this leave an opportunity open for Vendio to integrate Google Checkout into the Vendio checkout since we have a Merchant Key with Google [g]

Max...can't you set up Paypal to where you have to verify each payment BEFORE it is accepted. Do that and DON'T accept the payment but notify the buyer that they can send money order or check. Wonder what would happen if you started refunding each payment.....

Max - you are still allowed to accept checks and money orders - aren't you? I don't think anyone in the USA will be allowed after this month to do that. Hope that's a small comfort to you.

rhpepsi, I like seeing the community help each other out, I know you made the above suggestion in an honest attempt to help Max out, unfortunately, I would have to advise against this particular "work around".
When a seller offers PayPal as a payment method on thier auction, buyers bidding on that auction expect to be able to pay with PayPal. Previously, Max only offered the options of check & Money Order as payment methods, so buyers knew exactly what to expect. If Max added PayPal as his only payment method, and a buyer bid and won an auction from Max expecting to be able to pay with PayPal, only to have his payment refunded and receive an email asking for a check or MO, well, that could end up getting a bit sticky. A buyer could report Max, and that could end in a seller suspension.
What Chris said above is the current and most honest status of this situation. However, whenever there's a change on ebay, there's almost always a safe an appropriate workaround waiting to shine.

I would be very careful in working around this change. Ebay states that it is going even so far as to track the number of payments we receive by other methods and if they exceed some magic percentage we could suffer in one way or another. Sounds like micromanaging to me but I don't doubt for a minute that ebay would waste resources doing just this sort of thing.
I think Max's title of the post is accurate - time to decide if eBay still fits your business plan.

BlueFalcon....sorry...must of been a "GLITCH" in my typing...what I meant to say about Paypal was;
"PAYPAL is the industry leader of transparent Total Quality Management. What do we benchmark? Anything and everything, regardless of unimportance! We believe we know that it is better to repurpose cyber-macro-transparently than to synthesize globally. What does the term "collaborative" really mean? Think transparent. Our technology takes the best features of XHTML and SMIL. We will innovate the standard industry jargon-based term "world-class". What does it really mean to evolve "mega-cyber-nano-perfectly"? Do you have a plan to become reconfigurable? We pride ourselves not only on our functionality, but our easy administration and non-complex operation. What does the standard industry term "Total Quality Management" really mean? The aptitude to morph holistically leads to the power to disintermediate virtually. "

RH: You must have been reading Wingo's blog about ebay's new "indemand". I swear I didn't understand a thing. He's got that corporate speak down pretty well:
