I received this email from paypal, I never heard of them doing this before plus the link took me to a page telling me to review my information, there is nothing filled in for my information plus the date showing that I started my business is wrong. For some reason I think this is a fake email but the transaction I have with the customer is real and his email address is real. What's happening here that I don't understand? Is this email for real?

A. Tell us that you DID NOT click on an email link!
B. Contact PayPal to verify the email.
This is probably a valid email if you have received over 5k of payments in any month.
I seem to recall having to update my account last year. Even though I have had this account since 1998, the business established date was changed to 2007 when I completed their form.
I had received more than 5k before then but I think the merchant policy changes were implemented with some other changes last year.

Thanks Lt for your information
No, I didn't click on the link but I did copy and past the link and yesterday I got a strange page but today I get the sign in page for paypal.
But I didn't do anything yet. What I'm going to do is check later today and see if the funds cleared because paypal said they should clear today. I really don't feel I should have to fill out anything just to get my money credited into my account.
The email makes it sound like if I don't fill out or update a merchant form I will not get my money. I don't think paypal has the right to hold my money if I don't do what they are saying. To me it don't make any sense.

I received a similar email when a customer paid by e-check on 10/23. Today I got a notice saying that the e-check has cleared, but when I look at my account, the money is not there. Going to the payment page, the status shows as "Unclaimed" with no way of claiming it.
So I called PayPal and was told that there is an issue that they are aware of and are working on with regard to e-checks. PayPal is going to credit my account (perhaps sometime today) for the amount of the e-check, but I was told that if they fix the problem and I am later able to claim the e-check and I neglect to do so, they will take the money back! So I asked how exactly I was supposed to know if the problem had been fixed? I was told I was to keep checking the status and claim the e-check if and when the problem is fixed. How long am I supposed to keep checking on the status? I guess for at least 30 days, because after 30 days if the e-check is unclaimed, it reverts to the buyer.
Hopefully this is the only e-check I will receive until this issue is fixed!

"glitches" are increasing..is anyone missing email notifications from Paypal and Ebay. They had this issue months ago and seems to be happening again.

Hi Jem, I think paypal is just holding on to our money longer then they are allowed to. They call it a glitch I call it a scam.
And yes paypal emails are missing for me anyway. They don't send emails like they use to when you receive money or send money.
It is just a big mess lately with paypal. Plus the way they record your payments are so confusing also. They put an authorization of funds, then a pending of funds, then add the funds to your total and then take the funds back, it's so confusing that I don't know if they are taking more then they should. And it is time wasting for me to check over each transaction.
I made a purchase with JC Penny for 355.68 paypal put an authorazation for this amount and status is pending, they did this two times on my account and took out my money two times.
I made all phone calls to JC Penny and to paypal and no one can answer my question....Where is my money? it shows the balance as two deductions for 355.68 were taken out but no one can tell me where my money is. I told JC Penny that after 6 days if my money does not go back to my account I will start another case claiming they owe me 355.68. Paypal says they did two transactions a few seconds apart but JC Penny says no they didn't. But my money is missing.
I sent JC Penny a copy of my balance before I was charged the 355.68 and a copy of the balance after they deducted that amount two times and i'm down 711.36. They gave me a credit of one of the 355.68 and deducted 3 different payments that total 355.68 but the other 355.68 is still missing.
And now with the pending 290.02 life gets better....lol

Toni - I had a similar issue with my bank. They were taking out debit card charges twice on all of my accounts. However, unlike PayPal, they were aware of the problem and credited my accounts rights away. More and more I don't use PayPal fund to pay for anything. Money in, money out.

"The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

I just checked and my funds are available but they don't give me an option to accept the funds. So what is there to do now?
I know I will not be shipping the item until paypal lets me claim the funds so the buyer will just be waiting and waiting.
Cheryl, thats what I am going to be doing also ..money in money out....because paypal record keeping is too confusing.

I just got one of those messages also about claiming a payment. It says "We ask PayPal users who receive more than $10,000.00 USD per month to complete our Supplemental Merchant Information form." I don't receive even $2,000 a month. The payment they are talking about is an e-check, and has not cleared yet, so I guess I can just ignore it.

There are lots of threads about this on other boards. Amanda from PayPal answered the one on the PS board. It IS a glitch and they are working on it. Small comfort, huh? Some people thought that it would just go into their account when the echeck cleared but it still shows that it has to be claimed but doesn't have a way to claim it (only in eBay land!). I think you'd better call PayPal and tell them you are having trouble so they can add you to the list of affected accounts.
