If you are a PS, go to the PS board and read this post: "Increased Sales = Unusual Activity and Shutdown". If everything the original poster says is true this kind of activity on ebay's part will assure the site is full of crap sold by junk sellers!

For those of you who aren't PS'ers, the poster of that thread sold mostly apple notebooks (for a great price I might add). His sales increased from an average of $140K/month to $420k/month because he sold mostly $1500 items, it adds up quickly. Ebay shut him down because of his increased sales. Shut him down without warning and froze his PayPal account too.

Because of the growth, he was a little behind in shipping (I think he said 3 days after payment) but received no negatives for slow shipping. He had addressed the problem and improved his shipping time. His FB was 100% but DSR's were sinking fast.

His last post:
"I just do not have the energy to fight and beg for my account and money back. So I have decided to send a message to the buyers that I have not shipped to yet and explain to them that I was suspended on Tuesday for no good reason and their money is being held by PayPal for an undetermined time and to recover their money, they should file INR claims with PayPal as I am not going to continue shipping while PayPal has held the funds. I can not afford to wait weeks in the hopes of recovering what was just under $30k in PayPal.

I know it seems drastic, but why would I want to continue when my business is always at risk and from day to day, I have to wonder what is coming next. Only on eBay can 7-10 day delivery time for a short period kill what was a $700K+ business and growing. Anyone ever purchase electronics direct from Buy.com? The last 2 times it took 14 days to receive my items, even with the non free shipping option.

One last thanks for the replies as I turn off the lights and lock the door on my way out. Goodbye and I hope everyone has a great holiday selling season, but remember, do not sell too much ....... "

How sad. I don't see how anyone is a winner in this sitution. Do you think perhaps there is a bit more to the story?

I wonder too. A year ago I would have sworn there had to be more to the story - now I find it believable. Not everything can be handled by bots and stars - at some point a human HAS to get involved and straighten things out.

He relies on dropshipper to ship his goods,it is dicey when you have no control over your merchandise and customer service?
Wonder who is his dropshipper?

No,Ebay does not shut down a seller because of his increased sales, there must be some reason why Ebay shut him down AND FROZE HIS Paypal account.
How many sellers are selling his kind of Appple Notebooks and what is their starting bid?

Hwahwa, surely you jest!

I can think of several scenerios where eBay would shut down a seller with no questions asked, especially considering the new rules for selling electronics.

All it takes is one of your competitors reporting you as a suspicious account. ebay will shut you down while they investigate.

It could have also been a case of a few buyers complaining that they did not receive their order when it did not arrive the day after they paid for it. Even if the seller has shipped and has proof of shipping but the carrier is slow in delivery, it is the seller who takes all the flack.

ebay has been known to freeze the seller account first and then take their sweet time to sort it out.

LtRay: You are right on the money. Ebay does not give sellers the right to explain. They shut you down and ask questions later.

I am not 100% sure what has happened. It seems like the seller could have been "targeted" by several buyers with low FB who bought cameras as soon as they were listed. I don't know what the point of the targeting was - to leave bad DSR's to put an end to his selling or stolen credit cards or ?. Some PS posters suggest that PayPal may be investigating that angle but not communicating with the seller. Unfortunately it seems he emailed all the buyers and told them to file INR's with PayPal to get their money back - effectively ending his selling on ebay once the negative FB starts rolling in (and it will).

With APPLE products,I would think it is easy to find out who sells APPLE products,a phone call to APPLE would tell you where this seller gets his APPLE notebooks.
If he is legit,he could always come back after Ebay does its investigation and hire extra help to expedite shipping,if shipping is a problem!

I think the problem is with the cameras he sold: New Canon XSi 12MP w/ EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6. It seems his decision not to deliver and telling buyers to file INR's has ended the possibility of resurrecting the business on ebay.

Some manufacturers do not like any one, every one to sell their products cheap and operate on a shoe string to jeopadise their reputation.
Some dont care .

Well,he does not have the merchandise on hands and he cant get hold of any.
I doubt if the world is running out of Canon Xsi 12MP w/EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 cameras, but whereever he gets it from, the source has dried up or they just dont want to supply him .
(It is not because he does not have the money,he has 30K in his Paypal account)

Whatever. We don't know that he was drop shipping. Seems like whatever happened, he is done on ebay and all this might have been avoided with warnings as his volume increased and some communication before it got to the point of closing him down.

Ebay and Paypal watch electronic sellers closely,so many scams and bidder complaints.
Years ago there is this company in TN or GA,they are in the process of shutting down but they sell on Ebay with a photo of their store and would only take AMEX and money order (they lost their VISA/MC merchant account).
Average sale is like 3K and they just took off with the money after shipping whatever they have left in their warehouse.
So if this guy as an individual seller is ramping his sales so fast,it must have triggered alarm for Ebay and Paypal to look into his operations.
most individual just sell with a stock photo, they dont have the merchandise, may be they are an employee of a retail store or have access to store supply.
Ebay and Paypal can easily look up our registration, bank account and address and trace where we work, credit scores .
With the kind of proceeds an electronic seller is raking in via Paypal,it is no brainer to trace where he sent that money to for his goods?
