I received an email from PAYPAL today which was an invoice for $64.07 for EBAY sellers fees paid to EBAY Inc. I checked my EBAY sellers account and I owe only $7.96. i spent 2 hours on the live chat with ebay billing and security and they are not showing that they ever billed or recieved $64.07 from PAYPAL for me. After talking to PAYPAL customer service they claim that it would be ebays problem because thats showing who they paid. The kicker is: I don't pay my ebay sellers fees through PAYPAL but through a credit card registered with ebay AND my payments are not taken out on the 3rd of the mont as in this case but on the 15th of the month. PAYPAL took the money directly from my PAYPAL available funds plus my savings account. Any input?

Check with your credit card company. It could be fraud in the works.

go into paypal and make a claim stating you did not authorize that payment and let them investigate the case.

All I know is paypal is a big mess I am having so much trouble with them also that I can't wait to take my money out of the account.

Yep. They don't seem to know what each other is doing and somewhere in the end, ebay and paypal are going to become one infinate giant pretzel.

eBay forces you to pretty much accept Paypal now, eventually it will become absolute. Yet, Paypal has built this security wall of protection against their own establishment... forcing sellers to follow their policies, even though it may conflict with ebay guidelines.

ebay asks bidders to rate sellers on their shipping fees and times, yet I ship at my cost, no more than 2 days after payment is received and get hammered by low DSR's on shipping time and rates for medium/large packages. You offer a time sensitive option like Priority Mail, the bidder complains the price is too high. You offer Parcel Post to save them money, and they complain because their item didn't arrive the day before they bid on it. You don't hold a bidders hand through every step of the process, and they complain that you don't communicate. They don't read the description, and they hit you with item not as described BS.

You can list an AS-IS NO REFUND auction, but you're essentially forced to accept Paypal, which Paypal can negate your AS_IS/NO REFUND policy. If the bidder is dissatisfied with the item and reports it as not as described, Paypal will open a dispute and require the bidder to send the item back to you. Then they take your money (including shipping) and refund the bidder.

More and more you are seeing eBay and Paypal put restrictions on sellers. eBay boomed when there was less regulation on sellers. they keep losing more sellers than gaining sellers... and they wonder why.

It sounds as though PayPal customer service does not know what happened so are passing the buck......however....
to me it sounds more like a phishing e-mail supposed to be from PayPal.
Try forwarding the original e-mail to [email protected].
You will get a fairly prompt reply.

I just finished writing an email to [email protected] about this very thing. I ship from Canada, and I am constantly downgraded on my shipping time. We mail EVERY day. I asked them if it possible to put this in their message about leaving honest feedback, that buyers are actually grading sellers on the time they take to ship, NOT on the amount of time that the postal service takes to deliver the item? No matter how hard I try, I can do NOTHING to affect this, and get my ratings up on shipping time.

It is going to get worse now because of the Christmas mail which always slows things down every year at this time, so I expect even lower ratings on my shipping time.

Amber, I am sure that on the last few Feedbacks that I have left as a Buyer, they do in fact already say that it is how long the Seller takes to ship...

When you think of it, even that is super silly ( I am being nice here) anyway. How can the Buyer know, unless they are a fly on the seller's wall...when the Seller shipped....people do tell untruths like ...The Cheque's in the mail....the Parcel went out yesterday!!

eBay is certainly becoming more and more stressful and not nearly as much fun. I don't remember the last time we were excited waiting for an auction to end.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I contacted PAYPAL security and they are investigating. Someone suggested I contact my credit card company but again nothing was charged to my credit card the money was taken from my paypal acct and the rest from my bank acct. It wasn't a phishing email because after receiving the the email I logged on to the paypal acct and they did charge my acct. They aren't denying that they are just saying it was paid to ebay for sellers fees and ebay said they didn't charge me that. If ebay had said they charged me those fees then I could go to my account and get a breakdown on what they were and if it were my fault I'd take the hit but ebay is not claiming a payment. I think PAYPAL has been duped and won't admit it.

otteropp: I am glad to hear that, but I am sure that many buyers downgrade because of the time it takes in the mail. I guess if buyers look at the date they paid, and then at the date stamp on the package, they can see if they seller mailed quickly. I must say that these days as a seller, I feel so vulnerable, and as if I am walking on egg shells, trying not to do anything to cause my DSR's to be downgraded. eBay is just not fun anymore.

I found a FULL-PROOF solution to the DSR problem we are all having. I purchased a CRYSTAL BALL last week and it is WORKING GREAT. I have been able to mail my packages out to my buyers BEFORE they even win the auction! I love it, I even e-mail the buyers that continue to leave "3s" or below BEFORE they leave them explaining my shipping system. Now if only eBay would let me leave the feedback for them before they buy the product, I would be all set!

....in a RUM & PEPSI...is it 1 shot pepsi and the rest rum??? Or do I have that incorrect?

I'd say it quite unsettling for all of us. Makes you want to empty your account every day.

Paypal has so many problems with there site that it makes you wonder ....some site I used to work with took money out of my PP account so i emailed them and also put a claim with paypal.

The site emailed me telling me that I had given them authorization to take payment every 4 months. Yeah, ok but when I don't have there service anymore you would think that they would fix that auto billing. But no, if you are not on top of everyone that you deal with then you will be the loser.

After making the claim with paypal I wanted to cancel my complaint and the PP site would not let me cancel, because once I cancel then the site that took my money will be able to redeposit it back to me. So now it's a phone call to pp asking them to do for me what there site should have let me do.

A site with such a large responsibility to so many people you would think that it should be working perfect all the time and have special back up features to protect it's customers that pay for there service like US Sellers?

wvrep, Did you ever have your paypal account connected with your ebay selling account? Also check in your ebay account and check to make sure you have the correct credit card on file with ebay. This problem your having would be driving me crazy right now.

Changing your password regularly works well also. The companies you have "on file" that were set up to take payments from Paypal will NOT be able to access your account.

I don't understand how changing your password would stop an auto payment when the people you made the agreement with never had my PP password to begin with.

Sorry...I don't have any "auto" payments taken out of Paypal. I just thought that for a company to take the payment, it seems they would have to be able to gain access to account without the password. I know, I keep AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE in the account at all times (same goes for my Amazon account) -- the "out of nowhere" HOLDS are disturbing.

You can view/change your automatic payments from PayPal by doing the following:

Q How do I cancel a Billing Agreement?

Question :
Answer :
A

Use the following steps to cancel a Billing Agreement:

1. Log in to your account at https://www.paypal.com/.

2. Click the My Account tab.

3. Click the Profile tab.

4. Click the Pay List link in the Financial Information column.

5. Find the merchant whose agreement you want to cancel.

6. Click the merchant's name or email address.

7. Click the Cancel link.

The merchants do not have your PayPal password - you have to authorize the payment at some point when setting up the account.

I use this for GoDaddy and also for Skype.

Keep an eye on charges coming through from GoDaddy.

I have all my domains, hundreds of them, set for manual renewal -- and yet 18 of them were auto-renewed. No way to prove their error, if error it was, since I didn't take screen shots. I had to go back in and reset them all to manual.

My domain registrar business will be moving elsewhere.

Fluff - did Go Daddy charge your PP account or Credit Card? I thought by using Automatic payment through PayPal I would have more control if I decide to cancel the subscription.

I am more fearful of SKYPE. I signed up because it was the cheapest way of calling my daughter in Kazakhstan. I have since found a cheaper way (and I can use it on my cell phone) so I plan on canceling SKYPE when my three month subscription is up.

My domain names are with Godaddy also and I had them on Manual renewal. They still charged my account without me renewing them.

But I have to say there customer service is great and they fix whatever problems you have without any fuss. And they fix the problem fast also.

This problem only happened a few times and since them it's been fixed to stay on manual renewal.

But most of my problems happen because I do more then I can keep track of and as much as I hate paypal I have to say if I didn't have PP as my payment method I wouldn't know what was happening since on a reg credit card I don't see charges added that quickly.
