Bidder bids on an item. Pays immediately via Paypal at the end. Then emails and requests I ship to an alternative address b/c they moved. I refuse, explaining Paypal's policies.

I get this reply:

"I won't be able to get that taken care of this week.My grandfather passed away and I will be busy with that for the rest of the week.Ihaven't had a problem with any other sellers......so if you can't send it to me at my new address'refund my money minus the fees you were charged for the auction and keep the jersey.I don't have time to deal with this trivial stuff at the present time."

I send them an email telling them that I will refund their payment so that they can resend it in a week (by the 25th). I issue the refund, and haven't heard anything.

Today being the 24th, I decided to send them a reminder invoice... then I thought about it for a second, and did a bid history on the buyer. Ironic that he emailed me at 12:01 am on the 18th, yet placed bids on Philly Eagles sweatshirts later that day. Seems like he got over his grandfather's death pretty easy. It must have really affected his memory though, since he hasn't paid for what he won from me yet. lol.

Sounds more like a bad excuse from someone who doesn't want to be bothered with updating their information, not that a relative died.

File Non Paying Bidder, and give feedback stating he faked his grandfather's death.

I still have to wait until tomorrow. I sent him a reminder invoice. We'll see what happens.

It is just silly to make it like you are in such grief that you can't sit down and pay someone for an item you bought, buy a few hours later you can bid on other junk you don't need and pretend like nothing ever happened. Sad.

Sounds more like a scammer to me and you probably stopped him from taking advantage of you by refusing to ship to another address.

His request that you ship to a different address was a big red flag and his refusal to pay is just another flag. Be glad you did not fall for his story.

I would have no problem at all reporting his buying ID for suspicious bidding activity.

The guy actually has over 400 positives with no negs. The item he bought was only $5.00 plus shipping. I don't think he's scamming as much as he's lazy and doesn't want to be bothered with changing his info. When the NPB dispute gets opened tomorrow, he'll be put into a situation that either he changes it and makes payment or gets hit with a NPB warning. I'm tired of this BS with bidders, and can expect a retaliation in FB.

The biggest headache is ebay's new policies. They want to ram Paypal down our throats, but they don't make ebay users uphold their end of the deal by enforcing confirmed addresses. Catch 22.

OMG Toolhound that's a doozy! I have to relog in every day and I think most users do. I suppose the nephew could have bought it right away after uncle left. Well, if a cat can buy my sister a diamond ring (true story), I guess a nephew can buy rachets.
