I am in the process of verifying that the jacket I received yesterday is fake. Who would dream they would counterfeit jackets for heavens sakes!??
Seller has a 7 day return policy. What is the recommended way to do this - send the item back to the seller and have him refund or contact PayPal and open a dispute? The guy is selling lots of North Face jackets (and nike shoes). Will PayPal close him down if I file a dispute? My thinking is that if I get my money back from the seller directly he will keep selling the fake stuff but if I file a claim he could be stopped.
The jacket is very well made but from what I read, not a real North Face. I could give a hoot about the North Face name but I want to make sure that the downfill is correct (if they fake the rest, right down to the snaps and zipper pulls, how likely is it that the advertised down fill is accurate?)

Thanks GG. I couldn't see the blacklist (or whitelist). I am still waiting to hear from that forum whether my item is a suspected fake or not. Sigh. When I reread the listing, I saw some red flags (English not first language) that I missed when I bought the item. I feel like an idiot. It wasn't even that much cheaper than the authentic item, but with the 30% live cash back, ended up to be quite the deal. DANG!

If your positive that it is a fake North Face then what I would do is file a not as described .....with paypal, Because after what just happened to me with the sterling jewelry I found out that when you file Not as Described paypal takes the funds out of the sellers account and holds them until you settle the problem.
Also paypal told me that as a seller your not covered under buyer protection when a buyer files "NOT AS DESCRIBED".
I wouldn't even contact the seller first, I would go straight to paypal and start a dispute..... that's if you are positive you got a fake
Paypal also didn't ask the buyer to send proof that the jewelry was not sterling they just gave her what she wanted which was her money back on 2 of the items she bought from me. (once she sends them back to me) then she gets her money but paypal is holding my funds until I receive the items back.

I was wondering.....did he have a home address as a return address? wonder if the local authorities would be interested? sometimes they frown on blackmarket items AFTER you get your money back of course!
edited to add: OH I see now - that web site is dedicated to shutting these sellers and such down? I think that's what it looks like.

Doing the happy dance! The jacket is authentic - it's the 2005 model (first year style was introduced). YAY! Thanks all.

I like the detailing at the waist versus the plain boxy style the other one has. Stacy and Clinton would approve

I do too and I like the plaid lining. I just wanted to make sure before I paid the postage to send the coat to my poor freezing little daughter (22 yo) in Kazakhstan that it was going to be warm enough. She has to walk to work and back every day and much of January and February are -40. This should keep her toasty!
